Product details

The sideboard in walnut veneer and solid ash brings a warm, natural feeling to your room.

The distinctive grain pattern in the walnut veneer gives each piece of furniture a unique character.

Walnut is a naturally hardwearing material. The surface has been made even more durable by a protective coat of lacquer.

Push openers give the sideboard a streamlined look with no handles or knobs needed.

Inside the sideboard are two drawers and two adjustable shelves in walnut veneer and solid wood.

The sideboard has adjustable feet so it stands evenly on uneven floors.

Different wall materials require different types of fasteners. Use fasteners suitable for the walls in your home.

  • We recommend you secure this furniture to the wall with the enclosed safety device to prevent it from tipping over.
  • By using particle board with a slice of wood as top layer instead of solid wood only in this product, we use less wood per product. That way, we take better care of resources.

We want to have a positive impact on the planet. That is why by 2030, we want all materials in our products to be recycled or renewable, and sourced in responsible ways.

Ratings and reviews

looks greatScottfits perfectly in our kitchen. was easy to assemble and great for the price5
Beautiful Design!IsabelHighly functional. Had together in 75 minutes. Looks amazing! Would definitely recommend.5
It was expensive and soNELMAIt was expensive and so heavy, but it is nice4
Beautiful for the PriceNad PAssembly wasn’t as bad as some of the other reviews made it out to be; most of it was straightforward and no drill was needed. Only a few minor issues occurred: 1) The frame did need a couple whacks with a mallet to shift into place 2) hinges took a little bit of time to adjust until all the doors aligned 3) agree with other reviews that magnetic closure are cheap & can malfunction, but it doesn’t take away from the overall look In terms of the appearance, it is definitely darker than it appears on the website. The colour is much closer to the Listerby Console table. Also, it may just be my product run, but one of the doors is significantly darker than the other three. I don’t mind it much, as it gives it a more handmade feel, but it is noticeable.5
Great lookingSupercadeThe Stockholm Sideboard looks as good or better than comparable products that cost 3 times as much or more at other stores. My only complaint is that the magnetic door closures began to malfunction within a day of being assembled.4
Beautiful but hinges are trickymelzaThe walnut veneer on this sideboard is stunning and the piece is quite functional and has a lot of storage space. I'm a big fan of IKEA furniture and have assembled a lot of it; this sideboard was pretty straightforward until you reached the hinges. Although simple in theory: once both pieces of the hinge are attached (one to the frame and one to the door), you slide and click-in the door pieces so both parts of the hinge are connected BUT 4 out of 8 hinges would not click/lock into place. The mechanisms were very stiff and I could not apply enough force with my hands to get it to lock into place. Eventually I figured out that once the hinge is in position, I could get it to lock in place if I gave it a good whack with a rubber mallet. The only other thing I would say, is be careful to keep the main frame pieces at a right angle when assembling and that the veneer scratches easily so have cardboard or a rug under it at all times.4
Love itTorkamataStable furniture. Matches our Stockholm TV stand. Easy to assemble. Love the wood. Everything works great and I like that one can level it with adjustable feet.5
Good storageIkeaShopperClgGood storage space. Doubles as a TV stand. One of the door hinges regularly unclicks and falls when the door is open. Improve the door hinges on this unit please.4
Stockholm sideboardGracelandWe went to the restaurant for a lovely dinner. Then of course went to the As Is section. Saw this sideboard Yahoo! This was late Friday night just about 15 minutes before closing time. We measured it. Drove home then measured our car trunk. Went back early Saturday morning, it was still there. Bought it . We love it. Just had to purchase 8 tabs to install the shelves. And it was already assembled. Bonus.5
Stunning elegance in walnutsethbar1This piece of understated elegance is in our living room below our 60 TV. Solidly built and easy to put together. I wish Ikea had more walnut pieces in the Stockholm collection. This piece was well worth the cost. It will last a long time. A timeless design.5
Stunning sideboard, a little tricky to assemblejenniferdalyI bought the STOCKHOLM Sideboard about 2 years and it's a wonderful piece. For the money, you cannot beat this sideboard for walnut veneer. Doing research you'll pay 2-5x more for a similar piece from other places. While this is a IKEA furniture, I can ensure you that many do not believe it when I tell them. Everyone loves it, and it's the statement piece in the room with its beautiful wood tones. It's super functional, and the perfect height. We use it for our TV. Only cons. First, as a seasonable IKEA assembler I can say this is one of the more challenging IKEA pieces to assemble. We were scratching our heads on a few diagrams and had to do re-do a couple steps for success. Pour your favourite beverage of choice, put on some music and set aside proper time to follow the instructions step-by-step - and should be fine. One person could assemble, but IMO this one needs emotional support :P Secondly, it does scratch easily so keep in mind if you have small kids or when sliding around things displayed on top. Overall, I'd buy it again. It's beautiful and great value for walnut veneer.4
LOVE ITangiekinzThe walnut veneer is great quality and looks absolutely fabulous for the price. We fell in love with a similar sideboard from CB2 which was also walnut veneer but $1600 (triple the price). Excellent value! Typical IKEA level difficulty to assemble - my husband didn't seem to have any problems. Quality is great.5
Love the lookCountryreno2I love the look of this, added brass handles. It was easy to put together. Love it!!!5
Design FlawsMike4637This is one of the more difficult IKEA products to assemble that I've purchased, The instructions around the hinges are ambiguous and I ended up having to spend 30 minutes, moving the panels around properly. They are somewhat difficult to line up so that there are not uneven gaps in the doors. These alignment issues are common for assembled furniture using these types of hinge assemblies. However, the spring loaded push/pull mechanism on the sideboard kept popping the doors open unexpectedly after assembly. I had to reverse engineer the thing and later remove those completely, and then add my own rubber bumpers so that the doors closed softly and stayed in place. I had to remove the drawers to do that, then reinstall. The sideboard looks really nice though, especially with the copper handles I added. Handles are almost always an add-on at IKEA so that you can personalize your furniture. This piece will likely always make me a little nervous due to the frailties mentioned.3
Dining Room SideboardHendy9My mom and I bought this not too long ago from Ikea. It was the easiest ikea product that we have ever had to assemble. It also looks like a really expensive sideboard from other stores we have seen but the best part is it was half the cost. The colour is perfect and matches our dining table. There is lots of room for dishes and everything else we are using it for. It’s a beautiful piece and I truly recommend it and the quality of it.5
Color differenceAnonymous reviewerI have bought three Stockholm pieces and each one is a different color. Weird as this piece only comes in one color! Two pieces are close enough that it still works in the same room, however the third piece is so different it clashes. Two have an orange shinier color and the third is more ash and dull. Frusterating when you want it to match and be in the same room. Other than's a very solid, heavy and beautiful piece.4
Looks niceHappy in MiltonEasy to assemble but colour was different than the one in the store. Also the hidden magnetic closures don't work as well as I'd like.4

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in a responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet fixed on things like particleboards to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak and beech and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.

Designer thoughts

Details create long-term quality. When I designed the STOCKHOLM series, I used lacquer that protects the surface and makes the material feel natural. The big picture was key, and the robust look is also on the inside and the backside. The slightly higher legs add simplicity to the expression and the table’s soft lines and the straight design of the storage units create contrasts, just like in nature. The result is timeless furniture ‒ just as beautiful alone as together!
