Slightly changed, still workingTraceySo, when I first purchased this bed- it obviously came with this product. However, when I moved and the movers lost it…….. I needed to get a new one and fast!! The materials are slightly different- but still works- still does what it’s supposed to. Still grateful to have5
Weak galvanized metal at the attachment pointsCharlieMy last bed frame, SKORVA, ripped and sheared. Is that even possible or safe for a piece that was designed to be structural support for a Queen size bed?2
No concerns.JimNo concerns.5
good materialPoor constitution and material. The metal alloy isn't strong as it should be. My original one bent and broke on contact point.2
Support Beamdarjewel57Need it for my Queen Bed Frame. It was perfect fit ...thanks5
confusing!avatyI have bought the twin bed Malm and this part came with the package. There is not any instruction note with this part ,I googled it many times and no result.I just guess may be it is a wrong part related to queen set not twin bed. Now, I do not know what should I do with this heavy metal! I was wondering why Ikea doesn't upload any instruction video or even pdf in their website???? and Yes,customer service is not available.1
Will not extend to fit bed, so uselessCrowBreezeAliasI bought a bed. I put it together...except I cannot extend the Skorva center support beam for the middle. It's metal, the instructions way beware - it can cut you! I have tried prying it open with knives and screwdrivers. It will not budge. The two halves are jammed together, permanently, it seems. Ikea currently does not answer phone calls or emails, and there is no chat. I do not live near an Ikea so can't just swap it out easily. Because Ikea is incommunicado, I can't get them to swap it out. $17 spent on something I can't use. I am very very angry. The problematic Ikea website can't find any previous orders, and the system won't let me even use my own alias to write this review. I've had to add alias to the end, in case Ikea ever wants to make me not-so-angry about this.1
It Just Broke?!Sweet88I bought this about 4-5 months ago and it just broke. The MALM queen bed frame is intact but I don't know what to do. It worked fine up until now.2

Collapsed Center Support Beam on brand new MalmSwansoonWe bought the king Malm with 4 drawers. At first it was wonderful, solid and quiet. After about 2 weeks the frame began to get squeaky and quite loud when climbing into bed, so loud in fact it would wake my wife up sometimes. In hindsight I realize this was the center support beam slowly failing which in turn gradually put the weight of my wife, myself, the frame and the mattress on the slide out drawers. The center beam failure took about 2 weeks until one night at about 3 am the center support beam literally ripped itself from the mounting bracket on the headboard side. The beam and the mounting brackets were destroyed and my wife and I had a good scare as we we both jolted out of our sleep.1

HeffnerVery smart idea! Works perfectly!5
It just broke!LBuyerHave this beam in my Nordli bed frame purchased about 2 yrs ago. Has been a bit squeaky but nothing major. Just went to sit on the bed and it made a loud noise. Pulled the matteress back and the piece of metal is split 3/4 of the way through near the headboard!! It's about to collapse and because this is the only thing holding up the slats the whole frame under the mattress will be useless. This frame was NOT easy to put together and now I'm going to have to partially take it apart to put a new beam in. I hope the returns counter will go off the photo I have to get a new one, I will NOT take the bed apart just to get to the beam, go to the store with it to have it replaced THEN have to go home and fix it1

Material

What is steel?

Steel has unique characteristics when it is stretched and shaped since it remains strong. It provides strength to everything from skyscrapers and cars to bed frames and outdoor furniture. The steel industry is moving in the direction of more energy-efficient production and stronger steel qualities. It doesn’t lose any of its properties when recycled and today steel is one of the most recycled materials in the world.
