The fabric dims daylight entering the room and reduces glare. It gives a comfortable sense of privacy as people cannot see in. At night, silhouettes can be perceived from outside when the room is lit.
Curtains reduce heat from the sun as well as heat loss from draughty windows. For best effect, mount from ceiling to floor with the curtains overlapping the window, as close as possible, to prevent gaps.

The curtains are sold in pairs. The sizes stated refer to each single curtain. For the total width, double the width of a single curtain.
Since the fabric will shrink when washing it is a good idea to wash the curtains prior to cutting/hemming.
Use SY iron-on hemming strip to shorten the curtains without sewing.
Velvet can be prone to marks/creases. To remove them, iron the fabric with steam on the reverse side, then gently brush the pile where the mark/crease is to lift it.
15 gliders and hooks are usually recommended for each curtain with a width of 140 cm. You can increase or decrease the number depending on whether you want narrower or fuller folds in the pleats.

Lovely drapes. I bought the beige. PaulaThese drapes turned out to be exactly what I needed. Although the instructions advise against drying them due to potential shrinkage, I actually wanted them to shrink. After washing and drying, they shrunk to the perfect length by pure luck! While they don’t block out all the light, they do filter it nicely, which works fine for me. The cotton fabric is soft and drapes beautifully. After washing and drying, I did need to iron and steam them, and I also added drapery hooks and steamed the top to create pleats. Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase!5
