Ratings and reviews

Nice IdeaJasonThe Idea was there, low budget blackout curtains. The execution leaves a lot to be desired. The first touch of these and immediately you feel the the inferior quality and materials. I was extremely disappointed, and from the outside it looks like I’m hanging garbage bags in my windows. The curtains are a value, but over priced in my opinion, and I fear they won’t last long.1
Great purchase!Anne-MarieJust love these. Not heavy and keeps the sun from heating up the room.5
Great color and amazing blackout effect!HongThe gray color looks fantastic in the room. My son is a light sleeper and wakes up easily, but these curtains do a wonderful job keeping the room completely dark. His sleep quality has improved significantly since we put them up. Very happy with this purchase!5
Blackout curtains NamrataAmazing quality of these curtains. They are long and blackout perfect for someone who wants privacy and looking for renters friendly curtains. 5
Poor qualityBradleyThe quality of these curtains is abysmal! Shocking, not worth the money. I’d be better off using a garbage bag1
Shower CurtainSirkaMy own fault for buying these. They had them up on display at the store and I should have looked them over better. At home they are really just shower curtains, as window curtains they make everything look cheap so it’s into the shower they go!1
Too tall/longGigiI’m not sure if there’s a way to shorten the curtains without having to cut and sew an hem at the bottom. It’s way too long3
RagsNageenAbsolutely shockingly bad. They look like brown rags made of cheap polyester with no fall on my windows. As thin as garbage bags. These are curtains?1

RosenmandelStevegood value, works well, looks not too bad4
Great colour and very effective! MarilynLoved these curtains. Just the thing for my sunny windows! 5
Very lightweight but will get wrecked in the wash if you aren't carefulSarahI made the mistake of throwing these in the dryer after washing (how on earth do you hang dry a room's worth of wet curtains???) and bits of the backing came off in the machine. I realized after my mistake that I hadn't checked the care instructions first. Sooo disappointing as they are very nice, but now have all these patches that let light through. I've put duct tape on the other side to try to block them but not very happy about it given they're brand new and also can't be refunded due to my own error. Silly mistake but hopefully this review prevents others like it...!3
Blackout curtains LouiseToo light weight1
Not totally black out Anonymous reviewerWe wanted nicer looking black out curtains and these look great! But waking up in the middle of the night/morning I can still see everything when I open my eyes compared to our previous curtains. Very thin and the back is plastic like material 2
curtainMarissai like the color and texture. I will definitely buy more for my house overseas.5
DisappointedJackThe curtains are very thin and therefore feels cheap. The blackout is only ok. We plan to return these and keep our old curtains.2
Worst EverAnneI washed the curtains to TRY to get rid of the creases before hanging. I'm 70 and didn't want to deal with standing for a long time to iron the 2 sets. They were near impossible to dry. I'd hung them to dry, but there were puddles everywhere. They're noisy. Plastic noise when opening and closing. They don't drape nicely because of the hard plastic used as backing to create the "blackout." The colour, though, was perfect for where I wanted them.1
They are very good blackAngelaThey are very good black out curtains!5
Nice shower curtainJoanneReturning these as they are glorified shower curtains and could probably be used for that. I wanted something heavier and thought the description "block-out curtain in grey wool-like mélange effect" meant something for winter. Not so, so thin! And the price does NOT justify what you get.1
It's what I wantSunI wanted a light one because my curtain rod doesn't support the heavy one. It also blacks out the light well. So, it fits perfectly my need. In addition, it doesn't look cheap.5

Function solution

Blackout fabric

The black-out fabric effectively blocks out all light. Perfect for people who are sensitive to light during sleep, anytime of the day. It prevents glare on TV’s and digital screens. It offers complete privacy at all hours since people outside cannot see in, even when the room is lit.

Material

What is polyester?

Polyester is a durable, quick-drying and insulating material that is optimal to use for textiles and as filling in pillows, quilts and furniture. The material is made from crude oil – a limited resource. Since IKEA doesn’t want to contribute to more virgin oil being used, we are now gradually switching to recycled and traceable polyester from sources like PET bottles. What’s nice is that polyester can be recycled over and over, without changing or losing its great qualities.
