IKEA Product Review – LYNGÖR Mattress Base (King)Juan JoseAfter only about a year and a half of normal use, the center beam cracked and failed completely. I expected much better durability from an IKEA product.
The design of the center beam needs to be reviewed. The unsupported span is too long, making it susceptible to bending and failure under normal loads. Adding one or more vertical supports beneath the beam, or incorporating horizontal cross braces that tie the center beam to the outer frame, would distribute loads more efficiently, reduce deflection, and significantly improve the structural performance and durability of the base.
Overall, the rest of the product is still in excellent condition. Is it possible to purchase only the center beam as a replacement part? Replacing the entire base because of a single failed component does not seem reasonable.
Center support beam broke on king sizeSusanThere is a design flaw with this frame that IKEA needs to address. This was a good bed frame for just about 2 years. We have the king size and one night while sleeping the center beam gave out like a drop table at the chiropractor. It baffles me as to why there is no leg support in the middle of this beam in a frame this large. I wonder after all these reviews of the center support breaking if Ikea has added a leg yet. I called customer service and there is no recall on this or a replacement part. We clamped and glued the engineered beam back together with metal rails on both sides and a leg in the middle. Most people do not have the option to fix this. That's a $500 bed frame to throw away after not much use.

The central beam bent beyond repair which I tried but the material is really not sturdy, the metal and wood are obviously not of strongest quality. I would have said you get what you pay for but for this price something better should be expected.
Weak slats and center beamDenisI was looking for a simple base for a mattress and Lyngor seemed like it would work. Unfortunately, the material used for the slats and frame is soft pine, which makes the slats too weak. One of the slats broke after just one day after assembly. The slats are not made from the best quality wood, there are lots of knots, which are weak points. Also, the slats and center beam deflect significantly, which can be felt thru the mattress. The whole structure does NOT inspire confidence. Very disappointed in this mattress base.

Easy assembly, stable and no squeaksAnonymous reviewerI bought this bed (plus the legs), sight unseen and fingers crossed.
Assembly was really easy and quick, just me and my drill. One thing the instructions didn’t mention is that with some adjustment it’s possible to mount the slats and supports halfway down the frame for a lower bed. My non-ikea queen spring mattress didn’t want to fit tho, and I imagine it would be harder to fit the sheets in the lower configuration.
I’ve only had the bed for a couple weeks, but I figured I would write a review since this item didn’t have any. Happy so far!
