IKEA does it againArianIKEA's line of smart homes products have been killing it lately, I especially appreciate that most of their newer products are REVERSE COMPATIBLE with zigbee, so we don't need to throw away all of our older Tradfri products.5
Great start at a fantastic priceMattI snapped up a bunch of these as soon as they hit my local store, and in my HomeKit-based setup (Ethernet-connected Apple TV 4K as my hub, lots of other hard-wired Matter over Thread devices already connected) both the plugs and the remotes have been flawless. Occasionally they seem to report as offline in the Eve or Controller for HomeKit apps but that doesn’t seem to affect actually sending control signals to them, so seems like a reporting issues/possible firmware glitch. I fully expect the IKEA smart home ecosystem to continue to mature but I’m very happy with these as it is, and if you can find a better deal for a similar type of kit from any other manufacturer, then, well, you’re a better bargain hunter than I!4
Immature EcosystemSpencerI really can't recommend anyone buy any of the Ikea smart home devices after their change to Matter from Zigbee. It will probably improve, but at time of writing these devices are little more than ewaste and have been in the same state for months.1
