Easy to set up this quality itemAnonymousWe did use a Youtube video that walked us through putting the bed together. What I like about the bed is that you have mattress height options. I like the high bed option for it looks more elegant and more importantly it is easy to put bedsheets on without crushing your fingers on the frame.
The bed is sturdy and has great drawer space.
Why would the slatted base not be included?!?!CorrieOrdered online, took 3 weeks to arrive from a city 4.5 hours from my town. Centre connection was so short almost couldn’t put it together. Halfway through assembly discovered there were no slats. There is absolutely no reason not to include these when they are required. Why? Someone please explain the reasoning???
Needs to be redesigned.Lisa Please IKEA fix STEP 6 so there aren’t tears and incredible frustration on your customers part who are desperately trying to assemble the queen size Brimnes bed. The pin is too short to turn the locking nut and fasten together the 2 major boards of this bed. It’s NOT a new problem, installation would be simple if the parts were actually the right length for the job. It leaves one thinking that it’s them that is unable to correctly assemble it which is NOT the case. It’s a defect in the workmanship of a part. It seriously left me reconsidering whether I would ever purchase anything IKEA again. HELP your customers.

Box 3 MAY BE A DIFFERENT COLOURSamanthaTo save everyone the extreme hassle and confusion: box 3 may come as a different colour than the entire bed. We've had the boxes for 3 weeks and 1 out of 5 people who worked at ikea could tell me this. The photo shows it clearly, but no one could explain that to me when I was live chatting/calling.
I will update the star rating if the bed is any different than a 4 once I actually build it.

Extremely squeaky MeganI love the idea of this bed, it feels sturdy and supportive. Though, after about a week of using the bed it began squeaking with every move, not just a slight squeak but a high pitched one that wakes you up with every move. It is horrible and I have not been able to sleep in the bed for a while because of it. Very disappointing, hopefully we can solve the issue somehow.
Skip if you want to be repurchasing a mattressNickDesign is clean and l live the under bed storage, but the top has no indentation to hold the mattress in place. Had to replace a mattress under warranty from Ikea and the second one is already starting to sag again. Had this frame for 6 years.

Poor Design. Looks Great. Priced Well. Hard to Build. Kevin[ 1 ] Poor Air Quality: Made of particle board; the bed caused significant off-gassing, making the room unusable for a while. This was especially concerning as we were trying to conceive. I expected IKEA to use safer materials. [ 2 ] Difficult Assembly: Assembly was time-consuming and not intuitive. [ 3 ] Lack of Mattress Airflow: Fully enclosed drawers beneath the platform prevent proper airflow, causing hot sleeps and potentially damaging the mattress over time. [ 4 ] Flimsy Headboard Design: The headboard relies on a single leg for support, and poorly aligned horizontal pieces make it unstable. The particle board construction feels fragile, and the design is uncomfortable for leaning against while in bed. [ 5 ] Storage & Aesthetic: Offers ample storage with large drawers and has an attractive appearance. [ 6 ] Priced well all things considered. In the future, I will pay more for better design/simplicity and less off-gassing.
Great BedMelissaWe ordered this bed in King size as we already own the same one in a double. We love it. The under bed storage is great and the bed is comfortable and more importantly the frame is quiet. I can't speak to how easily it is to assemble as we took advantage of Task Rabbit for that.

Very Practical for Small SpacesMoniqueOur bedroom is super tiny, you can literally only fit a queen bed with some limited space around it and you’re supposed to put all your clothes in a tiny closet. The space added with the drawers on the Brimnes is amazing and very practical. It is a great solution for small spaces :)
Broken partsTroyAs soon as we got it and I was putting together there were a couple broken parts and I wasn't impressed with that other than that it's an OK platform bed frame draw size is good I fixed the broken pieces of wood by milling my own new pieces out of pine
Nice looking, very difficult to assemble. Anonymous reviewerThis bed is very nice looking and the drawer size was amazing. However, the instructions were awful and nothing is marked. I have never had such problems putting together flat pack items like this. I finally had to give up and pull 2 foremen off a job site for assistance. It took even both of them 4 hours, working together abd they gave up using the instructions and had to figure it out on their own. Not happy about that. Bed is pretty though. Abd seems solid.
