Disappointing Warranty Experience with ÄPPLARYD Sofa”FatmaWe bought an ÄPPLARYD sofa from IKEA, which comes with a 10-year warranty. Unfortunately, the fabric started to fade and the surface threads of the fabric began to fray and break off.
When we contacted customer service, we were told that the warranty only covers the frame — even though IKEA’s own warranty documents clearly mention coverage for fabric durability, color fading, and cushion structure.
We were disappointed by the lack of support and misleading warranty information. IKEA should better train their staff about what is actually covered under their warranties. We expected more transparency and accountability.1
Beautiful but the fabric did not stay nice.AnnieBeautiful, comfortable, but it does not change my mind. The fabric does not look after less than 3 months.2
Perfect HebaThe sofa is comfortable and big, works great for my living room 5
Wonderful couch!MartaI bought an Applaryd couch in Djuparp dark blue a couple of years ago and I'm extremely happy with my purchase. The springs in the seat cushions provide great support - I've had guests happily sleep on it. Yes, the velvet needs to be vacuumed more than other couches I've had, but with such rich colour and gorgeous results, it's a pleasure. The velvet is a good choice for pet owners, as it never seems to show claw marks. It's a really easy couch to pick up and move. To my recollection, it wasn't difficult to assemble. I just wish it had come with wooden legs, as I prefer that look.5
Make noise when seat on itMandyAfter 1yr of lightly used, this sofa started to make noise when seat on it.
Other than that, it is a good sofa.3

Reliable AmirrezaThis item boasts superior quality compared to other Ikea sofas and similar brands. The fabric and foam are durable, making them ideal for long-term use. Having used it for over a year, I can attest to its resilience — its shape remains unchanged, and I am thoroughly satisfied with its performance.5
Making noise when we sit on itDevyaniWe purchased this item just 10 days ago, assembled it at home, but as soon as we sit on it, it starts making an embarrassing noise. We've checked, and there are no loose screws or assembly errors on our part. It seems like the product is defective. The issue now is that it's quite inconvenient and time-consuming to disassemble it, return it, and find a replacement, especially When both of us are working. Plus now on top of this I will have to add on more money too1

Such a great value!GaspareMy wife and I tested so many sofas with different prices. In the end, this sofa is the best value without sacrificing comfort.5
Stylish… but that’s itJuliaPurchased this couch 5 months ago. The size is perfect for our smaller apartment, but issues are already starting to arise - piling is happening, fabric is loose, and worst of all the couch makes a horrible squeaking noise when you sit down, get up, or move on it in general. Would absolutely not buy again or recommend this couch to anyone.1
Uncomfortable poor qualityJenniferI’ve only had this couch a few months. Gentle wear, but the seat cushions are compressed and pilling. Back cushions are hard, so it doesn’t feel as deep/spacious as it could be. Don’t waste your money.1
Exactly what I wantedKimberlyI would have like some non velvet colour options but otherwise this sofa is comfortable, affordable and looks like high end designer furniture. Live it in my new space.5
Very nice, wide enough toAnnetteVery nice, wide enough to use as a bed in a pinch.5
Very comfortable, somewhat squeaky...MattI was looking for a durable, comfortable and very "nappable" couch, and as a 6'4" guy, that can be a challenge. This couch fit the bill, and has been a great purchase so far. Only one issue that I found, is that because it's a 100% metal frame, it's a little squeaky when getting on and off the couch. I've tighted the bolts a few times as it settles, and that helps, but it's metal on metal, so this is to be expected.4
FlawedAnonymous reviewerI have two of these couches. One of them gets a vibrant coloured stain (blue, red, green, purple) when it gets water on it, and the stain won’t come out. Only happens on one of the couches.2
Good modern sofa with sturdy buildArjunFound this on the website and went to the store to check it out. It looks nice and the high feet make it easy to clean under the couch. It looks modern and minimalist and goes with most decors. It is semi firm and supports your back for sitting on it for extended periods. The construction is sturdy.
I had the same problem in putting together the arms as others have mentioned. What worked for me was to use a rubber mallet (not a steel mallet/hammer - it can damage the wood) to hammer the arms in place. They need to be perfectly aligned. This is shown in the assembly guide but it's hard to do by hand. Once it's aligned it's pretty easy to attach it by the screws. This was the only problematic part in a pretty straightforward assembly. I was able to put it together by myself although the base is a bit heavy so if you have someone to help you it would make it easier5
Loving my new couch!AdamLove everything about it. I agree with others that the arm pieces are a pain to install, but if I can offer a tip...use a hammer to get the metal hook in place as much as possible. This will help align the bolts. I gently hammered the bottom side of the arm piece to get it locked in. Hope this helps. Enjoy!5
