I Can Sleep Well!SheldonThe SLÄKT twin bed frame I purchased is a beautiful piece of furniture. Not only does it give a sild base for my mattress, it is, in essence a second, 4-drawer dresser. It looks great and I can honestly say that I've never slept so well in my life.5
Great bed, labeling could be betterTylerAs with all ikea items im sure the labeling of pieces and boxes are lacking but assembly went well after opening each box and finding out you dont assemble from box 1 to 4 and it was all mismatched. Box did come damaged from shipping which wasn't ikeas fault and thankfully once we got it home to assemble the damage was very minor and not worth the headache to bring it back for refund. All in all it's a great bed with awesome storage!5
Missing Slats!!!ShairaThe bed was nice but when i open it the slats were missing!!!3
Nightmare to buildStephanieThe bed is decent once built but scratches very easily, so I took a star off for that. The other star I took off because the bed is a total nightmare to build. Stuff that could have been done earlier, like the roller bars for the drawers or the little black stoppers for the slats, were added at the end once the main bed was built. If you're tall and have to get inside to put these things on, it's a total pain. These things could easily be put on prior to putting the frame together. Also, my pack was missing a screw so I have to go all the way to the store an hour away to get the single screw. 3

My Daughter is happy.JenniferTook a while to assemble but other than that, it came out nice and as expected. I was not a fan of having to open EVERY box to get started but we got through it. Appears strong and durable.4
Pretty good product!CatherineBought this for my recently widowed mother. It’s fantastic, just a little high/tall for Asians. But overall a great product with lots of storage.4
Absolutely awesomeDaniellaSuper great bed. Very glad to have the drawers, they fit everything. I have a small room, so it's a lifesaver. I reduced a star because the drawers only face one direction. This means when I put my bed on the right side of my room, my feet are at the wall and my head is in the middle of my room (I would prefer to have my head at the wall) because there aren't drawers on the other side. It would be great if it was reversible. Even better if both sides had drawers, because right now one half of the space under the bed is wasted because the drawers don't extend to the end. Then I would REALLY save a lot of space. Overall very satisfied though.4
all good as expectationAnneall good as expectation5
Slant bed frameAlinaEasy to put together with an occasional help. Quality is ok for a frame that is not made of wood. My teen is satisfied.4

MEASUREMENTS ARE WRONGAnonymous reviewerThe bed is fine, no complaints there. BUT the measurements on the website are wrong--and if you have a small space where every few CMs count, you may have a problem like I do. The website states the SHELF is 42cm (16 1/2") wide and 35cm (13 3/4") deep. The depth is correct. However, the WIDTH of the shelf is barely 38cm (14 7/8") on the exterior dimension and 35cm (13 1/2") on the interior dimension. In my case this causes a collision between the drawers and part of a bulkhead for my chimney...nice thing to find out about three-quarters of the way through assembly...3
Awesome kids bedAndySlightly higher than other beds but the additional height allows more room in the bedroom so is ideal for smaller bedrooms.5
Functional and BeautifulSemelieChecks all the boxes for what I’ve been looking for in a bed for my boys.5

For all kids who like to dangle legs

When we developed SLÄKT bed with storage, we had help from the world's leading experts at being children – children themselves. 10 children aged 8 to 14 got to see and test the first bed version. Sitting on the edge of the bed with dangling legs, they thought of very important and crucial points.

Anna Carme works with product development at Children's IKEA and came up with the idea of a bed with storage after having visited many homes of families with children around the world. "Many families have limited space and the lack of storage creates a lot of frustration. It can also be difficult for children of school age to find their own place where they can have their things close at hand."

Without hard edges and handles

Anna and her team presented a first version of the bed with shelves and drawers – without handles. "We know that children of this age like to throw themselves onto the bed and can get hurt from protruding handles", Anna explains. And of course, the children threw themselves onto the bed when the team invited them to a Kid's Lab, a structured method we’ve developed to hear children's opinions and feedback. When the children settled in and sat on the bed’s edge, their ideas started to flow. "A boy pointed out that he could feel the edge of the bed as he sat with his legs dangling", says Anna. “He also wanted to be able to "slide" off the bed easily."

A bed from a child’s perspective

"The other children agreed and of course they were right in wanting a bed to be comfortable to sit on too", says Anna. The children's opinions led to the edge being lowered. ”It was important for us to develop a bed from a child’s perspective. This is the way we do things at Children´s IKEA. By involving children in our product development, we can learn more about their needs and dreams – and how they get in and out of bed."

Form design process

Created together with children

Children are the most important people in the world and we’re curious to hear what they have to say since we create products for them! Therefore, we invite children to creative and playful sessions where they get to participate in our product development. Here they can express themselves freely and draw, show or tell us what is important to them. Their opinions matter and make our products better. After all, they’re the experts!

Material

What is fibreboard?

Fibreboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fibreboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are. This determines if we will use them for bed frames, sofa frames, kitchen fronts, wardrobe doors, or something completely different.
