Wood veneer countertops
At IKEA we have a tradition of trying to utilize materials in the best possible way. For our countertops in thick veneer it means that we combine old craftsmanship with modern manufacturing methods. It makes the countertops easier to install, more stable and more resistant to humidity compared to solid countertops. And since we use the whole tree – even the crooked branches and the small twigs – we can save natural resources too.
Why wooden countertops?
Choosing wooden countertops is a great way to bring natural beauty and warmth to your kitchen. Their rich colour and unique wood grain add character, while their practicality makes them a smart choice. Wood is naturally resistant to germs and bacteria, making it a hygienic option for your cooking space.
Wooden countertops in solid wood and veneer
Different types of wood offer unique colours and patterns. Our veneered kitchen countertops come in a variety of warm tones, including oak, ash, walnut, and birch. Beyond appearance, size matters too—our thicker veneer countertops are available in multiple widths and thicknesses to suit your kitchen needs.
How to maintain a wooden worktop?
When choosing a thick veneer countertop, maintenance is an important factor to consider. Wooden worktops require prompt cleaning of water and stains to prevent damage. While wood is not highly scratch-resistant, minor scratches can be easily sanded out. To keep the surface in top condition and prevent drying, regular oiling is recommended.
