What should I do if my product is subject to recall?

If an IKEA product you own has been recalled, please stop using it immediately. Visit your nearest IKEA store or contact IKEA Customer Service to return it.

All IKEA products are designed and tested to meet safety standards and legal requirements. In rare cases, a product may still need to be recalled due to a safety or quality issue identified after it has been sold.
There are different types of recalls:
  • Recall: The product has a safety or quality defect, or does not comply with laws or standards, and must be removed from use to prevent any risk.
  • Recall for repair: The product has a safety or quality defect that can be resolved by repairing the product or replacing a part.
If you are an IKEA Family member, you will receive an email notification if a recalled product was purchased using your IKEA Family account. You can also find a list of all current recalls on IKEA.be.
If a product you own is recalled, stop using it immediately. If the product uses electricity, unplug it as an additional safety measure. You can return the product for a full refund by visiting an IKEA store or by contacting IKEA Customer Service online, depending on what is most convenient for you.

Bring the product to an IKEA store

If the product is small and you feel safe enough to move it, bring it to your nearest IKEA store as soon as possible. Recall product should always be returned to IKEA.
Once you’re at the store, head straight to the Customer Service desks, which is usually located near the exit. If you still have your receipt, you will be able to get a refund to the original purchase method.
  • If you used your IKEA Family card at time of purchase, you can also find your receipt by logging into your account and navigating to 'Purchase history'.
  • If you don’t have your receipt for the recalled product, you’ll receive a refund to an e-voucher or refund card.
