That’s the core issue: it feels like it’s not built for the environment it’s being recommended for. You’d expect a door designed for these spaces to handle moisture as part of its basic job, not fail like this over time.
On top of that, Ikea didn’t honour any form of warranty when the issue was raised, which made the whole situation even more frustrating.

No Quality, went internally mouldyTomeally disappointed with the quality. This product is sold as suitable for kitchens and utility areas, but it doesn’t perform in normal conditions. After around two years in a standard laundry - with proper ventilation and regular cleaning - the door developed mould, which shouldn’t be happening.
It’s not an extreme environment, so durability shouldn’t be an issue. The bigger concern is that it’s simply not fit for the purpose it’s marketed for. If the material can’t handle typical moisture levels, it shouldn’t be recommended for that setting.
To make matters worse, Ikea did not honour any form of warranty on this issue.
For the price, I expected something far more durable. As it stands, the product and its intended use don’t align. I wouldn’t recommend it for any area with even moderate humidity.1

The poor alignment of joints and gaps between the panels and the frames were disappointing. Also, having to wait nearly two months for enough of these to be in stock to finish our kitchen was a poor experience. 3
