Tempered glass is 4-5 times stronger and more resistant to breaking than regular glass. In case it would break, it shatters into many granular pieces to reduce the risk of injury.

Doors don't align perfectly no matter how much you try.KjI got three units with six doors. After much trial and error in adjusting them, I got some doors to align but not all.. This is a design flaw. Mainly of the cupboard units but also for the door. Because these doors should factor that in and allow more adjustments but they don't. Oh well.. ikea products!3

Material

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
