When we created NYMÅNE pendant lamp, we opened our treasure chest and found KLANG lamp from the 1960s. We added a dimmable built-in LED and let our designer give it a modern expression that fits the series well.

Product details

You can dim your lighting wirelessly and easily adapt the lighting based on activity.

You can choose to hang the pendant lamp over your dining table or closer to the ceiling for general lighting in the room.

The included light source will last for a long time, but if it breaks or stops illuminating it can be replaced with a new one.

By dimming the lighting, you change the mood in the room.

Using LED as a light source means that it not only lasts 20 times longer than an incandescent bulb, but consumes up to 85% less energy.

This lamp gives a pleasant light for dining and spreads a good directed light across your dining or bar table.

By connecting this product to the DIRIGERA hub, you get even more out of it and can also control it, together with other smart products, in the IKEA Home smart app.

Installation can be fiddly. Ikea uses great installation method to make the job quicker. No real negatives! CONTROL? Done from ANY brand of Zigbee Wireless Shortcut Button (scenes) or Zigbee Wireless Switch. DIRIGERA. Worth buying to control lights from phone either in Google Home, Alexa or Ikea Home Smart app. Allows you to integrate to Google Home and then unify your smart home in place. BUT you can spend $15-$25 on generic Multi-mode Zigbee/BLE/WiFi Bridge/Hub to do the same job via Google Home/Alex (just no Home Smart app). Simple to group lights together so can use 1 remote to adjust both colour + brightness. Plus automation great to have them turn on at sunset 40% , then increase brightness 80% at dusk. Or at night, if motion detected after 12am then turn lights on for 3min at 20% and warm white...5
Looks great but whining sound unbearableAnonymous reviewerWhen the light is dimmed to a lower setting, the whine becomes very apparent. I have tried to live with it for a month but still very irritating, especially above the dining table. A pain as had to be hard wired so will be a hassle to return. Disappointing for something that does not appear to be an issue in other lighting products from IKEA2

Not white light RobinIt was not white light as mentioned in the description. Apparently i have to buy additional remote/hub to change colours. Also to install you need a hook, which is not included in the package. Otherwise its a good product and looks nice in the dining area. 3

Form design process

Recycled design

Sometimes it's not silly to look to the past. When we set out designing our new NYMÅNE pendant lamp, the goal was for it to have a modern yet timeless expression and a built-in LED which is glare-free. When we opened the lid of our old treasure chest of lamps, the choice fell on a pendant lamp from our range in the late 1960s. The lamp was called KLANG, and it had all the properties we wanted – and our designer gave it a shape that fits perfectly in the NYMÅNE lamp family.
