Still perfect, purchased 8 years ago!KerrieI've had this lamp for 8 years now. I still love it. Looks the same as the day I bought it. I've turned it on every night since, and the original IKEA bulb is still going. At the same time, I also bought the matching floor lamp (more rounded shape) that IKEA used to sell (wish they still sold that as well) and the IKEA bulb on that has just gone tonight (8 years!). I hope the new recommended clear bulb is just as good and casts the same lovely shadows on the wall. Very well made, timeless design, suits and warms any decor.5

Material

What is bamboo?

Strong, flexible and one of the world's fastest growing plants – bamboo has many uses that make it an excellent renewable material. It’s a type of grass and usually grows without the need for fertilizers or irrigation. After being harvested, it grows new shoots that are ready for harvesting after 4-6 years. At IKEA we use bamboo for items like furniture, bathroom decor, baskets and lamps – and we are constantly exploring more areas of use for this versatile material.

"I've wanted to make a lamp with a handmade bamboo shade for a long time. Both because the material is beautiful and because it's durable - not least of all from an environmental standpoint. When I started working with BÖJA it was natural for me to travel to Vietnam and meet the skillful craftspeople there. Because the material is so light, I wanted to play with volume and make a shade with plumb shapes. The lamp is a good combination of traditional handicraft and modern design."
