Healthier food – for you and for the planet

Food is important to us. When it comes to certain ingredients or food products, we work with independent certifications and standards. You’ll find several products in our range today that carry a third party certification logo – for example coffee, chocolate tablets or seafood.

These certifications support us on our journey towards a wider range of healthy and more sustainable food. We want to make sure that you’ll always find food options that you can feel good about – for your health and the health of our planet.

Eating veggies just became easier

We love a good challenge! That’s why we decided to create ALLEMANSRÄTTEN vegetable balls – a delicious, colorful and more sustainable alternative to our famous meatballs.

The veggie balls are made from chickpeas, green peas, carrots, bell peppers, corn and kale. They’re high in nutrition, fibers and protein, don’t contain animal products, and their carbon footprint is around 30 times less than that of meatballs.

Try them, even if you’re not crazy about vegetables – you’ll be surprised at how easy and enjoyable it is to make planet-friendly food choices. And the kids will eat loads of veggies without even knowing it!

SJÖRAPPORT – Seafood you can trust

The icy seas of Scandinavia have given countless generations nutritious and tasty seafood. We’re working to share this tradition with the world, while being aware of the implications and consequences of fishing on the sensitive marine ecosystem.

The SJÖRAPPORT series includes salmon, shrimps and seaweed pearls, produced with the help of suppliers dedicated to responsible aquaculture, fishing and harvesting. All wild-caught fish and shrimps served and sold at IKEA come from fisheries which are independently certified to Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standards. When you enjoy MSC certified seafood you can be sure you are supporting sustainable fishing and protecting seafood supplies for generations to come.

    100% responsibly sourced salmon

We believe that fish farming is another great way to protect the future of our oceans. That’s why all the IKEA salmon comes from Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certified farms. This way, the salmon feed is more sustainable, the fish is protected from disease, there’s basically no need for chemicals and the farms minimize their impact on the local environment. Above all, the more farmed fish we eat, the more wild seafood is available for generations to come.

    Did you know?

With just two or three salmon servings a week you’ll meet your body’s need for omega-3 fatty acids, while getting a good dose of antioxidants, protein, iodine and vitamins.

A new gift from the ocean

As a new member of our high-quality seafood product range, we also offer vegan SJÖRAPPORT seaweed pearls. Made from kelp, a fast-growing underwater plant containing calcium, iron and magnesium, our seaweed pearls have a good texture, a rich color, a great taste and a consistency similar to traditional caviar. All of this, without contributing to the reduction of fish stocks, as no fish eggs are taken as raw material.

Make the world better, one cup of coffee at a time

Fika is an old Swedish tradition that gathers people around a cup of coffee accompanied by a pastry. But it’s more than a simple coffee break. It’s a way to get together and be with friends while drinking one, or even two, cups of coffee. So it’s no surprise that we put extra effort into making a better cup of coffee.

Our PÅTÅR coffee beans come from small-scale farms and cooperatives in countries like Honduras, Mexico, and Peru. All coffee sold and served at IKEA has been UTZ certified since 2008. This is a positive step towards better coffee, ensuring sustainable farming standards, better conditions for farmers and traceability back to the plantation.

But it was just the beginning of our journey to grow truly sustainable beans. Today, the coffee beans for PÅTÅR are organically grown according to EU standards, meaning without the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.

Organic coffee means healthier soils and less impact on the climate. Also, farmers are paid more for organic crops. That way they improve their livelihood while, at the same time, they’re safeguarding the environment.

If you want to enjoy our coffee at home or invite friends to your own fika, you can find our PÅTÅR coffee range in the Swedish Food Market. It includes medium and dark roasted filter coffee and signature coffee beans, as well as espresso coffee. When you try it, you can track down the origin of your beans on And remember that you’re not only helping farmers and workers earn a living wage, you’re also helping the planet become a better place.

Chocolate bars with a story to tell

Just like the beans in our PÅTÅR coffees, the cocoa in our chocolate tablets is UTZ certified. To trace the origin of the cocoa in your chocolate bar, visit

To ensure sustainable farming standards and better conditions for workers, the cocoa meets strict independent requirements. Just look out for the UTZ logo in our Swedish Food Market.
