Room darkening curtains prevent most light from entering and provide privacy both day and night by blocking the view into the room from outside.

Product details

The room darkening fabric lets in a small amount of light and there is no glare on TV/screens. It gives a strong sense of privacy as shapes and light are barely perceived from the outside.

Curtains reduce heat from the sun as well as heat loss from draughty windows. For best effect, mount from ceiling to floor with the curtains overlapping the window, as close as possible, to prevent gaps.

Effective at keeping out both drafts in the winter and heat in the summer.

Curtains with heading tape allow you to hang the curtain directly on the curtain rod using the rod pocket or tabs. You can also hinge the curtain onto a track rail using gliders and hooks.

Using gliders and hooks usually creates a more formal and dressed-up feel, where hardware is not visible.

The heading tape makes it easy for you to create pleats using RIKTIG curtain hooks.

    The curtains are sold in pairs. The sizes stated refer to each single curtain. For the total width, double the width of a single curtain.

    Since the fabric will shrink when washing it is a good idea to wash the curtains prior to cutting/hemming.

    Use SY iron-on hemming strip to shorten the curtains without sewing.

    16 gliders and hooks are usually recommended for each curtain with a width of 57⅛". You can increase or decrease the number depending on whether you want narrower or fuller folds in the pleats.

Not black out- room darkeningKristeenThe reviews on this are very confusing. These are not blackout curtains- with that being said there is a different article number with the same name that are actually black out curtains. Store even got confused and gave me these instead of the true blackout curtains. Pickup staff not care to pull the correct item while I was there for pickup and I did not have time to unload kids, run inside to run through a maze, and return-repurchase. Now I’m stuck with these want-to-be blackout curtains. Bummer huh?! If your looking for room darkening curtains they are great though!2

Majgull = MagicalCharelotteThese curtains are beautiful and I’m so obsessed! I bought these with the sheer HILJA curtains and the double curtain rod so the sheer would be on the inside (window facing) smaller rod and these would be on the outside rod (room facing) and they look so, so good! I also hung them higher above my window to give a more dramatic look and they make my windows look bigger from inside my living room. I still need to hem the bottoms because they are long but they give a puddled look, although the puddle look doesn’t look bad it looks pretty romantic, it’s just not the look I’m going for design wise. Overall though the quality of the curtains for the price well surpassed my expectations! They don’t block out 100% of light but I’m my Colorado Condo (super sunny here all the time) they do block out like 85-90%. The color is gorgeous and fits my Scandinavian design theme. I legit cannot compliment these curtains enough! I wish I could submit a photo of how beautiful they make my spaces.5

I didn't have a problem with wrinkles/creases as others have noted, just ironed them and they have looked great since. PLEASE, please considering adding 108 size to the light gray!!!! Material

What is polyester?

Polyester is a durable, quick-drying and insulating material that is optimal to use for textiles and as filling in pillows, quilts and furniture. The material is made from crude oil – a limited resource. Since IKEA doesn’t want to contribute to more virgin oil being used, we are now gradually switching to recycled and traceable polyester from sources like PET bottles. What’s nice is that polyester can be recycled over and over, without changing or losing its great qualities.
