An easy solution if you don’t have a lot of space since the foldable table is perfect both as a desk and as a dining table for 2-3 people.
On the shelves you have plenty of storage space, and if you want to hide your things just fold up the table.
Solid pine is a natural material which ages beautifully and gains its own unique character over time.
You can personalize the furniture even more by staining or painting it your favorite color.

Works great as a kids desk!MercedesMy daughter loves this. It attached to the Ivar unit in her room. It is great to put up to do school and craft stuff. I did modify a couple Ivar shelves by trimming a side off to fit the space underneath. There was a lot of empty space to make room for the folding leg and she needed the shelves.
The old design was betterAlyssaThe old folding design was far better. I can't use this for what I need it for. I sew and the leg room is horrible for using my machine and being tall... I can't stretch my legs at all. This leg design is always the worst and I am disappointed. One of the worst item updates that Ikea has done.
Hard to get support, creates useless spaceLaurenI really wish they brought back the old folding table design. This design you have to bend over far or get on the ground to hold the table up while you reach under to bring out the support leg. So if you have a bad back or are older don't bother, it's too hard to use. It also makes the bottom area behind the table almost completely unusable because you'd have to crawl under the table to get anything, the leg would be in the way, and you can't use another regular shelf because the shelf is more narrow to accommodate the folding leg. I really really dislike this design and you can't see how unusable it is until you build it. Such a waste.
Works okayTeresaWorks as I expected.
You can flip the support!MarcyPSA, in every photo of the table the support swings out from the left, attached on the right. You can absolutely flip the hinges over and attach the support from the left side so it swing out right. I didn't see this in the directions or anywhere online and took a chance. This is a great add-on but with uneven flooring it doesn't land perfectly or rest perfectly.
Ivar fold down deskWandaJust what I needed. Love the Ivar storage system!
Absolutely perfect!TiffanyI live in a very small space and I originally picked up the Ivar shelves to create and entire wall of plants and bug tanks with added drawers for dirt and tools. While wondering around Ikea, I saw the table in the showroom and I just had to have it!!!! There is space behind it to store all of my motorcycle gear while keeping it out of site and I now have a surface to clean tanks, repot plants and fold laundry. It gives me work space I wouldn't have had otherwise and is one of my absolute favorite parts of my apartment.
If I had any suggestions, it would be to sell the inset shelf that is provided for the bottom of the table separately so you can add more shelving below the table. I will be cutting one to fit.
Perfect SolutionBrentI needed a workspace for working from home but with little room, we were struggling to find a solution. We came across this in the showroom and took a shot on it with some addition side units. It has ended up being the perfect solution for working and hobbies.
Perfect for my basement craftJoanPerfect for my basement craft room.
Prefer the old design but this one worksAnonymous reviewerLike other reviewers, I prefer the old design. Even though the former design was a tough build, it was lovely. I don’t understand why Ikea decided to use the cross support. Gate-legs are not great designs. Why not design the lift table with fold down legs?
Despite this, the table works for 1-2, so is fine for our family.
Poor design update decisionsEdwardWanted to get another one of the first version of this, which was a "soft" drop down/fold up version of this that completely concealed the fact that it was a table and could have become one of the most brilliant design works coming out of the IVAR series in decades (I'm a designer and I really appreciated the design).
This new updated useless version makes it not only horrible to look at, but incredibly inconvenient to sit with more than two people across from each other due to the diagonal crossbar that holds the table up. Forget trying to sit three people for a chat.
new design is inconvenientLaurelI really hate this new design, It blocks where your feet go and it folding down instead of up caused us to redesign the entire layout of the shelving unit. There are no doors available for IVAR that are attractive and the folding down of the unit made our need to cover our computer monitor a real problem.
