Beautiful dresser but LOUDAnonymousDresser was quick to assemble and looks beautiful. The downside is that the drawers are incredibly LOUD when closing. It routinely wakes up the sleeping person in the room when one of us gets up earlier than the other and needs clothes. There is no way to close the dresser drawers quietly due to the locking mechanism. 2

Longest lasting dresserJenWe bought this dresser for our first apartment when we got married in 2008. It's now 2025 and it's been with us through two apartments and our house. It is shocking how well this thing has held up. I just change the knobs over the years for a fresh look. 5

Love it!BarbaraI've been wanting this piece for a while. Finally got it. The instructions were a little daunting so I called on Task Rabbit to assemble it. The guy came on time with his own tools. Was very respectful of my home. He finished it in a morning. It would have taken me much longer.

Poor material qualityPatrickI have multiple IKEA items but the Hemnes dresser has been a disappointment. Only a month after I assembled it a crack in the top board began to show. It has been growing larger ever since. At this point, about 6 months, the crack has grown to being about a foot long and an inch deep. It's not even fixable without replacing the entire top of the dresser.2

Don't recommend, cheap and traumatizingStacyjumped through literal hoops trying to get this dresser before it sold out, just for it to be missing 8 pieces. Had to jump through 100 more hoops trying to get the missing pieces, nearest store is 2 hours away and since I got it 2.5 weeks ago I've gone there and wasted my time and gas multiple times just for them to refuse to help me and say I'm out of luck till they have it back in stock, told me to call back every day till it was in stock to request my parts when there's no direct phone number to the store. Quite literally TRAUMATIZED by their horrible customer service and lack of support. I used to love ikea, now I will never step foot in that store again. horrible people, horrible support, for a nearly $500 with tax dresser, there was no reason I should have had to gone through this and had to "take a loss" because they refused to help or give me any answers. Ridiculous. Dresser scratches easily as well, thin material. Not worth the hype or trauma. 1

Amazing!AmandaI was a little nervous purchasing a dresser online, but went ahead and decided to trust that it would be good because it was from Ikea. I was not disappointed! This is such a quality dresser and I just love how it looks in my room. It offers a lot of nice storage room for my clothes too. The only thing I will say is, if you can afford it, pay for the assembly because it is quite the beast to assemble on your own! It comes with good instructions and the materials are high quality, but it does take up a good amount of time.5

It's a classic dresser. I like it over the other mdf products since it feels more solid and you can sand and stain it if you wanted a different look
You need someone to help assemble this in parts since its so big. I wouldn't recommend going alone.5
Not the same white, disappointed in qualityChristinaI bought this dresser 10 years ago for my daughter in white and it was a laminated matte white that has held up nicely. Last year I repurchased for my other child and now the white is more of a stain and is sheer.. The quality has gone downhill versus the older version. What's more, they no longer sell the glass top to protect the lower quality. I do not recommend this at all.1

And, the directions and kit were perfect for putting it together with ease. It’s so beautiful, yet simple. Very complicated build; poor qualityJylI knew what I was purchasing when I ordered. It looks nice once built. Cheap materials, chips and scratches very easily. If you're building on your own, do not miss a single step! Make sure the screws and wheel bars are matched pieces when assembling - this was a huge issue when we put it together and had to disassemble to do it all over again. Center beam/board under the dresser doesn't reach the floor and nothing we did corrected it, but doesn't seem to be an issue thankfully. Customer service is exceptional and shipping was fast, delivery efficient. 3 stars because: The difficulty assembling, easily chipped materials, the face of the drawers have a darkened circle that won't wipe away and looks awful.3
