smells horrible after 1 month of light useRachelI bought three of these pillows, let them air out after pulling off the plastic packaging, and put pillow protectors on all of them. After only 1 month, all three pillows smell horrible, like really really nasty farts. My husband and I were blaming each other for farting until we realized the smell only emanated when one of us leaned back on the pillows. It's strange because I bought one of these same pillows a couple years ago and I've never had this problem with that one. I strongly advise against buying this product at this point. A quick google search will show that I am not the only person experiencing this problem with these Ikea down pillows. 1
Too StiffMaryThe Gulkavle pillow is too tightly filled for my comfort. Once fully expanded from its packed condition, it still felt like a sack of flour, almost like it was a king size amount of filling in a queen size cover. Ikea was kind enough to accept my return.3
Good pillowEvgeniyaIt is a bit pricey but It is comfortable:)4
King Down PillowTammyThis down pillow does go a bit flat while using it. It is heavy in weight and does fluff up nicely but I need to stack my pillows to get the comfort I need.4
Nice PillowsRobertGreat pillow, no feathers.5
Pillow mediumBeatriceComfortable medium firmness pillow with just the right amount of filling and nice quality fabric cover. A bit pricey but worth the money.5
best pillow everJanieLove sleeping on this pillow. Have at least one on every bed at home and one at each relatives' home that I spend time so I don't have to haul my pillow with me.5
It os very comfortable MariaIt is cozy and comfortable 5
Not a high pillowAlexAs soon as you lay your head down on the pillow it flattens immediately. It's not even close to a high pillow. I even gave it almost a week to fluff up enough but that did not help a bit. Do not be fooled by the product description it is a cheap pillow. You're better off spending $5 on a box store pillow. 1
Not high enoughGalinaGood quality but not high enough, not worth the money. 3
Best Pillow I've ever had!ValeenI've tried all the pillows. Expensive and cheap. Polyester, latex, ergonomic, wool, and even tried sleeping without a pillow in an attempt to alleviate the pain in my neck. (Old surfing injury). I finally decided to try a feather-filled pillow & started my quest with Ikea. I went to the store & squished all the display pillows. Deciding on this one, I discovered the store was out of stock. Ordering online for delivery direct to my home only took two days. It's been about a month so far and I still love this pillow! It squishes in just the right spots while leaving enough support everywhere else (like my neck). It doesn't tilt my head at an odd angle, instead it provides support just where I need it most and reconfigures that support if I should roll from by back to my side. It bounces back quickly, and it's still as fluffy as it was a month ago. BONUS - I love that the care instructions say I can wash it in the washer! How many pillows can say that???5
Buy the queenJamesRecently upgraded our bed size and my wife and I loved our Gulkavle queen pillows so thought we would buy them again. These are flat, provide no support, and are generally much worse than the queen size we loved. I would not recommend. 1
Gulkavle pillowDianaThis is NOT a high pillow as described on the Ikea website. I am a frequent Ikea customer and am very disappointed in this pillow because it is NOT as described. My head flattens this pillow to about 1/2 inch which is absolutely useless to me...and I am not a huge person. If I can return this at no cost to me, I will, but I live in an area that is at least 1.25+ hours away from any Ikea store and everything from Ikea has to be delivered to me. This is NOT typical Ikea quality and it IS expensive. I would NOT purchase this again, nor would I tell others to buy it.2
Steady declineDebbyBeen buying IKEA down pillows for 10 years and they used to be the best for the money. Unfortunately the quality has drastically declined. This pillow is no comparison to previous versions like Bergven. IKEA should bring that back, it was the best. This one doesn’t stay full and even the cover is cheap. 2
Same name, different pillowAndreaThis pillow is flat and softer than the pillow sold under the same name before.
The 'good Gulkavle' is # 804.603.09. It did not have two chambers, just a nice fill of 75/25% down/feathers. IKEA does not provide the down weight on their pillows, but I suspect it has been significantly reduced with the recent 'product overhaul'.
This pillow is but a shadow of the value and quality of its predecessor.2
Very disappointedDonnaDescription of pillows was supposed to be high fill. The two I received were vacuum packed and flat as a pancake. I tried everything I knew to fluff them up. Even left them just laying for 4 days. Did not even sleep on them once because I can’t sleep on a flat pillow. I got the model number from a friend that I’d spent several nights with and I loved the pillows. This model # is different, but the description and video looked like the same pillows. I have a pinched nerve in my neck and those pillows gave me the best nights sleep I’ve had in 3 years. Would you by chance have any of the GULKAVLE 804.603.09 pillows?1
Supportive Down/Feather Queen-sized PillowMaryI picked up this pillow in the "as is" section at a $10.00 discount -- it had some fabric pulls and glue stains that neither affect comfort or usability. I put on a pillow protector and have been very happy with the loft and support of this pillow.5
