Second purchase was of lower quality.BettinaThe assembly instructions are specific and I am adept at working through IKEA manuals. I had no issue putting together the first shelves I bought about two years ago. Today I put together the second set of shelves I bought last week. Either the slots on each of the pillars was off or the holes in each slat .. or both. They just didn't line up to allow for the installation of each shelf bracket. Shave a millimeter of steel off the end of each bracket and they may slide in fine. A disappointing execution of product manufacturing, if the process or origin changed. The design is quite excellent and sturdy! Needs better quality control. Now the shelf inserts are wobbly and I will have to work harder to get this second set to work.4
Tackling the BROR: An honest reviewJordanI, like many an IKEA shopper, decided to read the reviews on the BROR before buying it and was very aware of the previous low reviews, but I decided to still go through with buying the brackets/5 shelves anyways because the size of it is perfect to put plants in front of our window. I did want to start off and say all went well with building it and I had no issues, I highly recommend wedging the completed sides between two boxes as you hammer in the long shelf in the middle- helps a lot with one person. I cannot underestimate how loud it is to build- earplugs are VERY advised as you hammer. You have to take it patient and slow. While the shelf turned out good in a solo build my main complaints and low rating come from the paint chipping off so easy even before getting to the hammering part- and the "middle" brackets under the shelves suck to finally click in (Make sure it clicks!) and you have to get them perfect to get the shelves to sit still. Wish the shelves were a mesh metal too.3
HorrificDanielleThis is a great project to do with someone you want to never see again because it will ruin any relationship.
The pieces do not fit together, the slide parts warp and shred apart as you put it together and continuously fall back out as you move on to the next bar to install. This thing is such a nightmare I have to assume it was designed for the sole purpose of ruining people's day who dare to try and build one. If these were free they would still not be worth it.1
Downgraded Product Made for Flat Pack ShippingAnonymous reviewerI finally understand it. I own the cart and workbench versions. Those are solid. Shelves are single piece and easily just screw it in place. These shelves on the other hand are made of thinner sheet metal. Each shelf made of 6 individual pieces that you have to hammer it all into place, no screws. You're guaranteed to damage the slide-in joint just by trying to assemble it. The surface board only sits on top. So it could pop up in one corner. I can complain all day about this thing. Bottom line, IKEA cheaped out on this one. Don't get it. Like all the other reviewers here, I'm surprised they approved this piece of garbage for sale. 1
Flimsy, simple to put together but to many defects, doesn’t have any leveling for slight concrete imperfections ChristinaLooked like a nice product and the design was nice too. However it should be made out of stronger material. I purchased 2 to put in 2 different spots in my garage. Unfortunately they are so flimsy I ended up putting them right besides each other and attached them together. It added a little stability but still if you touch them they wobble around. Due to it being at the edge of the concrete there isn’t anything to level them with. Which doesn’t help any at all they still just want to twist.
I have bought tons of stuff from IKEA. No joke all my bedrooms, laundry room remodel, everything but my living room furniture has all came from ikea and haven’t had a single issue and wonderful products! Some I’ve had over 10 years and still not a single issue at all. Not once in building anything have I had a single issue.
I’d recommend you to save your money and don’t buy these they are not worth it at all.1
Picture confusionMeghanI like mine but the point was to make it functional and the picture that was the selling point I can't seem to find the item in the picture that attaches to the unit which is frustrating. They show a side attachment that has the gardening tools organized upright. It seems maybe they decided not to produce but still advertise with it.2
Sturdy storage shelvingMichaelThe Bror shelving met my expectations regarding its sturdiness and utility in my garage. It was easy to put together and can carry the heavy load needed. Thanks!5
Assembly nightmare, flimsyKathrynI too have built a lot of Ikea items in the last 30 years. I find them to be reasonably sturdy and useful. This item is flimsy with a poor design. Because of vibration from the rubber mallet used to attach the 16 individual bars, it unbuilt itself as we built it. (Installed bars uninstalled themselves.) Middle bars were created poorly so wouldn't install as the directions said they would. After I searched online for a number to call as the language-less instructions said I should, all I could do was chat. They asked if I was installing the bolts correctly. No bolts to install at this juncture? Built it as best we could and will use it until I find better or it crashes in on itself. Did I mention the first set of shelves delivered had crushed corners because they were placed in a much larger box with almost no padding? If you have another option to these shelves, run in that direction.1
Quality Control FailSarahIt looked great in store. Pieces picked up in the click and collect looked good until I unboxed. Random pieces here and there were bent. Other pieces weren't machine properly so the pieces would fit together. The idea of slide and snap seemed great to avoid lots of screws, but quality control failed. Drove all the way to pick up and then have to return it.1
Bends so easy DillonThis metal is so cheap when I use my rubber mallet super carefully and still ruined it... please don't buy it 1
Impossible to fit togetherJohnBy far the worst IKEA product I've bought. The supports literally so not fit together and the metal is so thin it will break and bend in the process of trying to build it. Avoid this product.1
Worst IKEA ProductJacobThis was the most infuriating IKEA product I’ve ever dealt with. The metal bent and broke easily. The pieces do not fit as intended, and if you follow the instructions you will understand what I mean by the second step of the process. Horribly designed, flimsy product. Wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy.1
So fragile it breaks during assemblyMakaylaThe pieces would not fit as intended and the metal bends easily, so when the part wouldn't fit the metal just twisted. I can't imagine this thing is strong enough to even handle the load listed on the packaging. Waste of time and money. Spend more money for something that will actually work.1
Great for my kitchenDaniaIt fits a lot of appliances of my kitchen, very sturdy.5
Sturdy shelf!KathyFit perfectly and holds all of my extra kitchen supplies!5
