Great productAndreaGreat product, good design very functional5
high hopes..Anonymous reviewerI wanted to love this purchase however, upon taking the item out of the box, the wood frame had a crack right at the top, middle part of the frame, that cannot be concealed by the doors. Sadly, I am stuck with it as the item was too heavy for me to pack up and return. 1
besta is garbageRachelso wobbly, I had to go out and buy corner brackets, and it is STILL wobbly. I have no idea how you are supposed to put legs on, or mount it to the wall. it is literally hanging together. you can't even tighten the sides to the top and bottom. There is a gap on 2 of the 3 cabinets I bought can't be tightened together; I took it apart twice to fix it. If I hadn't already put them together and monkeyed with them, I'd take them back in a heartbeat. I got doors for them as well, but the frame isn't strong enough to hold the doors level. Also, the doors are VERY heavy. I've bought and put together more than 100 Ikea items, including 2 (TWO) Ikea Kitchens. and this is BY FAR the WORST Ikea item I've ever seen. They should be ashamed to offer this in their store, or put their name on it. Absolute Garbage.1
Beware of color changeSadiqWe purchased a Besta tv unit color:walnut-gray in mar 2024. This year we decided to upgrade the unit to add more storage and guess what they discontinued the color !! How are we supposed to match with existing furniture! I called up customer care stating the problem and asking for a solution and got none. They won’t accept an exchange since we crossed one year mark and neither can find a stock somewhere. So disappointing, it’s not a old furniture to throw away and get a new one 1
Perfect match for TV unit bodyTomI used two of these as a base to support a BESTA TV unit, raising the height of the TV to a better position for my viewing needs. Using items from the same product line ensures that everything lines up, both in dimensions as well as color and finish.
The adjustable legs, and the clever way that you can change the height from inside the cabinet, are great features.5
Super flimsyTimI like the idea of the Besta series. I absolutely do not like how this taller Besta frame is so flimsy. Between the thinner side frame and the janky plastic pieces which the two side panel “bolts” anchor into, the obviously redesigned product is inferior to previously made IKEA pieces. Also, the quality control with their soft close hinges is horrible. Spent many hours trying to align doors, finally became frustrated and took the hinges apart and measured the movement on the and none of them lined up or were consistent. Will never purchase ikea hinges again. 2
Needs hardware improvementAnonymous reviewerThe product itself is a great product. The problem lies in the plastic screw locks. They DO NOT lock down the sides like they are supposed to. This causes the product to rock a ton side to side even when fully assembled. It is not sturdy or secure at all. They need to replace the plastic screw/cam locks with metal ones. Otherwise you need to order the metal ones online to replace the plastic ones to make it secure. I tried 3 different boxes of the product, and they ALL did this. I finally tried a spare metal one from a different IKEA product to find it made it secure.3
Not very good qualityLindsayPretty cheap quality. Just getting to build it now after a move. The pieces are bubbling. The back support piece also snapped. Very cheap. Also, expected it to come a little more put together....Hinges would have been helpful.1
HORRIBLE QUALITYGiorgioNormally, over time, production processes and quality should only improve, but not for IKEA!!!
I have known and had IKEA fornitures for at least 10 years, before the quality was more than sufficient, excellent weight, excellent finishing, now the products have been totally lightened, metal parts replaced by plastic, horrible gluing. Unfortunately there are not many alternatives to Ikea around...1
It's great!NickyI wanted a cabinet to put my liquor in. This works great. I also got the glass door and glass shelf. It was pretty straightforward to put together. The hardest part was the hanging on the suspension rail. Love it. Going to get another one soon5
Super wobbly.AshleyMy husband picked this out for his office To put his PC tower on top of, and use the rest for books. It's super unstable. It is so wobbly, I feel it will fall apart if I try and move it. Pretty disappointed, because I buy a lot of office furniture from Ikea, and I've always been happy. But for this price, I'm pretty disappointed. I know I can return it, but that means taking it apart, putting it back int he box, and dragging it back to the store. We shall see if he is ok with it, but if it was mine, I would not be.1
Wobbly, unstableSimonWorst shelf design. It wobbles so much, the weight of the door twists the frame so much, it’s unusable. Total waste!1
Required Stabilization AnnaVery wobbly and probably the lightest piece of IKEA furniture I’ve ever owned. A trip to the hardware store and 8 medium “L” brackets later, I was able to make it more stable. It t met my need for storage with a small footprint, but had I known about the quality issues, I would have waited and searched longer for what I needed.2
Chipped paint and defective JamalThe storage unit has chipped paint and the doors do not level 1
Way more than expectedMelanieIt’s the best shoe storage I have came across. Quality is stable and beautiful appearance. 5
Great shelving unitRichardI used multiple units to create a long low bookcase in my den. I liked this style because it is deep enough to hold large art books.5
Love them.DeniseGood quality product at a great price. Looks great in our finished basement.5
Massive downgradeWilI have an older version of this BESTA unit and it is absolutely solid. I use it as an entertainment center and it has no trouble with a tv, stereo, game consoles, and a bunch of vinyl records. So when I needed to add storage to my office this seemed like a now brainer.
The new one wobbles so much I’m nervous to put anything on it. I had to add corner braces to it to even make it usable.
I tightened everything as tight as I could get it, but the design no longer uses the wooden pegs to hold everything in place.
The instructions say to mount it to the wall, but it’s absolutely absurd that I need to permanently affix it to my wall to make my furniture not wobbly so a company can save 2 bucks on materials. How am I supposed to vacuum under it or dust the wall and baseboard behind it? Take it apart? Seems it would be easier for IKEA to just make it not awful in the first place. 1
Perfect for our needsJoeExtended an existing BestA bookcase on a wall and this was perfect in terms of the size/space we had to work with. 5
Perfect for my shoesBettyIt fit perfectly under my window and with the black storage boxes it always looks neat and clean. I did have a problem leveling it but then I realized I don’t need it to be perfectly balanced. 5
