Reviews

Novelty office desk. Looks nice, poor functional designMichaelI bought the 63x30 top with manual height adjust. The under frame is too small to support the table top, and thus it is very wobbly from front to back. The desk will dip with any weight pressed against the length of the desk like your hands or a monitor arm. The table is too thin. The height adjustments are simply two hex screws pressed against flat metal and no locking mechanism. There much better desks found on Amazon that are less wobbly, thicker top, electronic height adjust, and cheaper.2
Huge and sturdyMargeauxI just put it together a couple days ago and it's great. It looks nice and as a short person the adjustable height is a godsend. I was a little scared with all the reviews saying it wobbles, but I haven't experienced that at all. It's so big that it comfortably fits both my monitors and my laptop. Great purchase.5

Adjusting the height is aBalajiAdjusting the height is a pain post setup2
Great deskBeckyI’m really enjoying this desk. Easy to put together and able to adjust the height. The only concern is that the desktop is thinner than I would have hoped (maybe 1/2 inch).4
Almost perfect, still love itKristenThis desk is a great value for the money and looks like higher end height adjustable desks (I have it in white). It is actually the only desk that will work for me because it goes to about ~25" high whereas most only drop to ~27" or higher (I'm 5'3"). I use it with a Herman Miller Aeron chair and the whole set up looks like something from a Design Within Reach catalog. My issue is with the leg adjustments. This is not a sit/stand desk, which I understand—it's a set to your desired height and leave it desk, which is great for ergonomics. However, it is nearly impossible to get the feet to be parallel to the edge of the desk. I had to use all of my force to twist them to be in the right position (following the instructions exactly). It shouldn't be that hard to get it properly adjusted. Otherwise, I love it. The cord control pocket is a great added feature.4
Improvement needed on the table top finish.PengyuanThe piece I got have wood finish looks darker and more red than the photo shown (and probably darker than the showroom unit if I remember correctly). What is worse is that the surface finish is not the top quality: there is a matte sealant on top of the wood veneer to allow uniform surface finish. However, the sealant is not applied sufficiently left the most rough part of wood top with unfilled porous holes. This makes it looks low quality and part of the surface too rough for computer mouse. I wonder if IKEA drops their quality standard during the shortage to catch up the supply.3
Great quality for home officeRobbI've been using Bekant desks for years. They're commercial quality and are a level above most of the other desk models. In particular, I like: * The metal frame that runs under the entire desk. Makes it very stable. * The netting cable management hides my Mac Mini - it's great. * The modular nature of legs, frames, and tops has enabled me to change the look over the years.5
Great deskTinaThis is a very sturdy desk with lots of room for working. The legs are metal. No wobbling and very easy to put together.5
Do not buy!IshaanExtremely wobbly to the point where I can’t even type or write something without the whole desk shaking.1
Computer TableJimWe are enjoying this computer table. Perfect for what we needed. Solid and functional!5
Good ChoiceBryanIt's a solid work desk!5
Bekant Get Any Better Than This Desk!YoussefGreat desk! Roomy sized and plenty of real estate on the desktop for the modern work/play station.4
Well… I prefer the LLucyWell… I prefer the L shape one but they do not have it and I really need a desk so I bought this. This item is not easy to set up and really heavy (maybe is a good things). I do like it but my table top have a wired dirty spot that I can’t wipe it off. I have my table cover but I still will always knot there is a spot just right there…4
Great craft tablePattySturdy and great for crafts or even a WFH area5
Cheap base can’t support topTysonThe screws and whole base isn’t sufficient to support the top of this desk. I really liked the color of the top but the desk is poorly constructed.1
Too WobblyJuliusVery nice asthetically, and easy to assemble. But functionally, it wobbles way to much. At the sit position, it shakes while type on the computer, and it's even worst when it's at a heighten position. I made sure all of the screws were tight, but it still wobbles. I do not recommend this product.1
Great craft deskErinThis is our third Bekant desk in our collection. We initially got two of the mid sized ones for my craft area but a pandemic and new baby have turned our house upside down and I needed more craft room since my husband took over one of the desks. The mid sized wasn't in stock so we decided to go with the larger one and it's pretty nice! It's a bit too deep for where I have it, but I'm making it work. I love these desks though. They are sturdy, look nice and feel durable. Being able to adjust the height is wonderful as well. Our 2yr old helped my husband put this together it's that easy. I do feel like it's a little expensive for what it is, but it obviously didn't deter us from purchasing.5
Bekant DeskDonnaThe Bekant is the desk I needed. I love it!5
Great!AlessandraLoved it! It is big enough for all my stuff and it looks great. Sturdy and easy to put together!5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
