Reviews

Up/down switch immediately stopped workingPeter K.I assembled this product exactly as per instructions and almost immediately (within days) the switch stopped working to lower the desk. I now must use the app if I want to lower it. This isn't acceptable performance for this kind of money.2
Idåsen DeskJanDesk was easy to setup. Great instructions. Works like a charm. Very smooth mechanism.5
Defective Top - BrownXIANG C.I have been shopping at IKEA for years and this is the first time it let me down. The top is defective, there are some spots are unfinished(w/o paint) and they scratched my sleeves. I contacted the customer service and asked if there's a repair kit or paint that I could use to fix it at home as I don't want to disassemble it (it's very heavy) and drive hours to get replacement, especially I am worry about the replacement might have the same issue. So I would rather try to fix it if i can. The representative told me I could just return the top, but the top and legs are paired. I thought IKEA sell paint or touch up repair kit for the furnitures, maybe just for floors and cabinets? Not sure if I will shop at IKEA again.2
Awesome adjustabilityPaulEasy to assemble, great for standing or sitting. Also allows persons of various heights to adjust for the perfect desk height.5
usable tablePeterworks as expected5
Rock solid on carpetNick M.I have been researching motorized sit-stand desks for awhile now and this one stood out. I like that the legs have reinforcement to prevent desk sway/wobble when elevated at higher heights, it really makes a difference. It's got a lot of heft/weight to it. The only thing I don't like is that you can't really move it around, once you put it somewhere, its not going anywhere. This is not a light desk. The actual desk topper is of good IKEA build quality that lines up with the rest of their products. I decided to put a giant mouse pad/desk mat on top just to protect the finish for years to come. I also really like that this has a 10-year warranty for peace of mind. My main concern for buying a table was sway/wobble and this is rock solid (on carpet) - after building it we tested lowest and highest height - works great. I'm using it for work now. Assembly time for the handyman: 30-90 minutes Assembly time for the normal everyday person: 45-180 minutes5
Love this deskMeliaI work from home and need to be able to stand at times due to a medical condition. This desk makes it so easy to transition to standing from sitting. Assembly was not difficult at all5
Perfect sit-stand desk for my home officeJenniferLove this product! It’s very sturdy and glides up and down effortlessly. It has wonderful surface space for my laptop, monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse plus a few other accessories. Added bonus is that I can use it for a crafting table on the weekends!5
High quality product made with low quality partsPrivate U.Build quality is excellent. This is the best desk like this that you can find for the price. The top is not real wood but the table is extremely stable compared to other tables like this.4
Nice standing deskSei K.Nice standing desk5

Husband loves this desk!Ashley“Easiest piece of IKEA furniture to assemble ever, everything should be this easy!” He has enjoyed his desk in his new home office and uses it in it all of it height functions.5
No regretsTeresaSo far so good. It was easy to set up, looks good and I love that I can stand up and work when I need a break from sitting5
I’m very happy with thisFrederickI’m very happy with this desk and have no regrets.5

Great TableMelissaThis is a very nice table. I love that the table goes pretty low if you are sitting at it and goes high enough for tall people.5
Legs!BillyIt’s beautiful and sturdy, I bought this one because I loved those legs and the desk has a good price compared to similar options in the market. Assembly time was about 90 min.5
Great sit/stand deskJasonVery solid and easy to adjust height.5
Functional sit-stand deskNikolausHad been looking for a sit-stand desk with some heft to it, Idasen seemed to be just what the Viking ordered. Assembly was straight-forward, the frame comes in two beefy boxes around 15kg / 30lbs each, tabletop the same. Had the whole unit with desktop up and working in 1-2 hours, taking my time. The cable management netting is a nice bonus, but not sure how well it will last. I have a few monitors on the desktop along with a mess of devices and so far, no issues going up or down. Unit is definitely beefier and more stable than some previous IKEA sit/stand desks I have seen, but worried about long-term longevity of motors. So far though, no issues. Only two complaints are: no keyboard tray option, and due to the structure of the desktop, one cannot be easily installed. Second, the optional app to control the desk (which is not from IKEA) kinda stinks.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
