Reviews

Comfortable deskthomasThis desk has been very functional and comfortable, plus looks good in my office. I am glad I went with this shape over the rectangle, as it gives me more space and fits well in my office space.5
Great desk!SirpaI love the fact that you can work standing and sitting!5
Great Investment!!!StephanieLOVE my stand up desk! I have been remote for 6 years and this desk was exactly what I needed. I used a top desk riser that was lifted by hand on springs for 6 years and now to have something motorized that's easy and a perfect fit for my small office space.5
Out of Box Not WorkingRobert T.There’s no frustration quite like when you finally get a piece of IKEA furniture put together, and then you go to turn it on (in this case raise it up) and it simply doesn’t work. Tried every plug and every combination of wire entry that I can think of, just nothing. Now I get to experience the personal joys of waiting at Ikeas product return check-in kiosk. Not sure if I need to fully dissemble this thing to get a working motor, or maybe I just should because this is probably just an omen. Here goes another 8 hours of my life.1
Worked Great for 4 years!Lauren G.This desk was everything for 4 years as an editor that works from home. I had motor issues but resetting always seemed to work and yeah it’s not great for my multiple monitors and leaning on it but I’m not complaining because I shouldn’t be leaning on it while working anyway. This latest reset didn’t work and it got stuck all the way in the down position. Sad to see it go but I don’t have the receipt anymore so I don’t think I can exchange it for the parts warranty. Sad to see it go and not sure if I should get the same desk again or a different brand.3
Love this desk!Marian D.This desk is everything I hoped it would be. The up and down motion is smooth and reliable, and the workspace area is roomy and sturdy. It's the priciest desk I've ever bought, but no regrets.5
Very stable and strong motorIESHAN J.We loved this table, bought it for my wife since she was asked to work from home and we land up buying one more for me.5
Great design and very strongIESHAN J.I really liked this table, using it for 6+ months.5
Tons of desktop space and great controlsLyndonEasy to assemble and the desktop has tons of room for my monitors, printers, and stationary boxes. The motor controls for moving it up and down are easy and convenient5
Bellamy deskRAYGreat change from the traditional desk this replaced. Lots of flexibility in work positions. Assembly was easy and works great5
Fancy & Good. Lack of the stabilityDONG Y.I love this desk. Motor is working well for stand/sit mode & white color is fancy as other IKEA white color product. One thing insufficient is... in the short side frame, bottom metal frame is not long enough or this side requires more frames to keep the desk stable in x-y.4
Bekant desk is an excellent productKATHRYNThis desk is everything I have come to expect from an IKEA product & more. It’s Solid, sturdy, made from high quality materials, & thoughtfully designed. And of course, easy to assemble. It’s very heavy. We have a 32” monitor plus laptop on it with plenty of room for another monitor & other desk items. The mechanics are excellent...the desk glides up & down smoothly & easily. We looked at many desks before purchasing this & I’m very happy with it.5
Great Sit/ Stand Feature; not as sturdy as I hopedCaliSewistI bought this about a month ago to serve as my sewing table. It was surprisingly easy to put together - my hubby and I did it in an hour or so. I love that I have the ability to sit or stand and sew at the push of a button. This does wonders for my back and neck problems. The hydraulics move the desk up and down at will and you can stop anywhere in between. I love that I can make tiny adjustments in the desk height that help my neck, back and shoulders feel more comfortable. All of the components are working well but the desk is not as sturdy as I hoped it would be. When I adjust the desk up and down, it sometimes gives subtle shakes throughout the surface of the desk top and so I have to move my sewing machine to the middle of the desk before raising or lowering the desk. My machine is only about 30 lbs and I would not call it heavy for a desk this size; however, the benefits outweigh the design flaws. As long as the electronics/hydraulics continue to operate smoothly, I'm a happy camper.4
Disappointing!Alex0601It's been less than 3 months I have started to use the desk and now it got stuck. It does not go down for some reason. I've ended up with a desk which does not work properly.1
Failure @ 20 monthsOnTheFloorI purchased this desk in March of 2018 and use it daily as I work from home. In Nov of 2019 the motor wouldn't lift the desk only lower. I contacted Ikea customer service and they mentioned there was a 10yr warranty. I had to disassemble the motorized legs and bring everything to my local store but without issue they exchanged them for a brand new set. The customer service made all the difference when the product failed. Keep up the good work.5
Does not fully function anymorekmanbearpigI was given this desk as a gift, and it worked wonderfully for a few months, until recently when it stopped working when going up. The motor dies every inch and I have to wait around for a few moments until it goes up another inch. Very Frustrating!1
Easy to assemble and useKIP22I have been very pleased with the ease of putting this desk together as well as it's day to day use as a spacious and well laid out desk. It is easy to raise and lower and it has enough space to allow for multiple uses of the desk (computer, paperwork etc)5
Desk will not raise.TroyRThis desk was great until it stopped working. THE DESK WILL NOT RISE ONLY LOWER. I have realized an unbelievable amount of people have this issue as far as reviews go! I think it is time to solve this problem. Spent 530 on a desk that only works half way. Very displeased.1
Many RegretsPreston00I have now had this desk for 9 months, so I think my opinions are well founded. This is a good desk IN THEORY. Good construction, but some of the placements are awful. FOR EXAMPLE; The support beam for the left side is far too close to where your chair would be. This has now cut open 3 chairs, and it has cut me twice lol. The lift and lower function no longer works (reliably) See I originally loved this desk, but now I wish I went with a different product. IKEA has not responded to any of my support tickets, and I don't really have the money to buy another sit stand desk. So, if you're limited in money, want support response, and want to have your desk last; Go somewhere else. I could have spent my money better by getting the Bekant Normal straight table, and bought some other stuff for my apartment. I'm personally pretty angry and won't be purchasing from IKEA again until they get back to me and fix this.1
Motor stopped working after 4 monthsJarrettAs stated above, the motor to move between the sitting and standing desk stopped working at 4 months. Now the desk is stuck at an awkward position and is borderline unusable. Furthermore I've tried for a couple weeks to get in touch with IKEA through their customer service line so I'm hoping I can get their attention here. I'd stay far away from this product.1

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.

Function solution

Stay active at work!

With BEKANT electric sit/stand underframe you can raise and lower your desk with the simple touch of a button. That helps you change working positions often and keeps your body active. The lowest position for sitting is 22" and the highest for standing is 48".

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

"When we designed the BEKANT series our goal was to make flexible desk combinations that encourage collaborations, meetings and creativity. The desks come in different sizes and shapes – you can use one alone or combine them to suit your needs. And they’re easy to add onto, or change, any time your needs do. To encourage a healthy work environment, most underframes have a sit and stand function that allows you to vary positions. Also, this series has been tested and approved for professional use, so it’s perfect in all types of offices."
