Reviews
Very comfortable TuomoLooking the current reviews have to wonder has it changed or do we have some other model not anymore sold? Looks very same? Anyway, the one we have is an excellent bed and a decent sofa! Has the same wooden “bones” as the real beds and a separate cover, easy to keep clean / wash!
Okay futon for a very short-term sleeping setup. Look elsewhere if you're suseptible to back painIfeyaniI purchased the smaller black futon two years ago. I slept on it for about a month with little to no issues. It was firm, but comfortable enough to get me through a full night's rest. I then used it as a couch for almost two years, which was still decently comfortable. I moved recently and had to buy a bigger mattress, and I had to use this for about two months before I had my long-term sleeping setup. It was fine the first month, but I started to feel a lot of pain and tension in my lower back the following month. The plush started to deteriorate, and I felt the wooden beams in the middle more. I'm currently still in pain, even after getting my new mattress and visiting the chiropractor. If you want an affordable couch and a bed for a very limited time, then I'd recommend this. But please do not buy this for a long-term bed. It's not built for that. If you value comfort and your back, buy an actual mattress with a reputable rating.
Convertible sofa/bedThomasNot too bad to construct -- anyone who has done IKEA before would have no problems. Comfortable to sit on, conversion to bed fairly easy, bed comfortable for short stay; if you are looking for long-term use as bed, try it out first, everyone has different likes/dislikes when they are trying to get to and stay in sleep. Overall, good value for what I needed.
Good futonPriscillaThis is a great piece of furniture in our home office. The only available color is depression grey, otherwise it’s perfect.
Extremely uncomfortable Anonymous reviewerThis sofa bed is extremely uncomfortable as both a sofa and a bed. It is impossible to relax on this thing. It’s cheap but you are sacrificing comfort. Don’t waste your money please.
Great sleeper sofa!ClarisaI bought this sofa for my daughter. She is in college, and I have used it three times already. It's great! Firm and comfortable.
Good price, good quality TracyThis suited my daughter’s needs in a small apartment for extra sitting/sleeping options. Quality was worth the price.
Very short termCheeIf you’re looking for one that lasts a yr or 2 and don’t mind the price then sure but it’s been 1.5 yrs and I live alone and weight under 140lbs and barely have guests over if at most one other person and the back is no longer folding and staying up … disappointing. It was probably 6months or less in I noticed the futon became uneven also so retention is not good on this product.
Hurts the back GabrielaI call it the torturer. Really nice looking, easy to assemble. But it is not comfortable and it damages your back really bad. So much, that I prefer to sit on the floor that in this sofa.
Wish it was a bit more sturdyStefanieThe legs attach with large bolts to the frame. Unfortunately the portion of the frame that the legs attach to is held only with thin metal staples in particle board, so a little side pressure to move it over causes complete collapse. Before the collapse, the couch itself was quite comfy.
Sofa bed is so goodSaeminGood price, good quality
Not what I had expectedWilliamI bought the BALKARP futon with the intention of using it to sleep on occasionally, but it's very uncomfortable, and has a large and noticeable gap between the two cushion halves that makes it difficult to sleep.
Work goodYunice and easy to fit in the living room
Why not 5 stars?MikeI like the look and the size. Sleeping on it is okay for me but I can see some people complain about back hurting if they had to sleep on it for a long time. I'd use a good mattress topper over this for this case.
Now discontinued; uncomfortable! ; broke in 9 months; probably can't return; no warranty.JamesThere are two latching mechanisms, one at each end of the sofa. They allow it to be placed in one of 3 positions. One or both of the latches broke after less than ~ 1,000 cycles. It is stuck in the upright position. Now useless as a guest bed.
(Value for money: ~$30/month. Nope.)
Great valueJohnThis is a sturdy little sofa and is very comfortable as a bed. It's also well made. It's held up through three moves and is just as solid now as it was the day I bought it.
Good couch, good valueTiffanyWe are enjoying the Balkarp as it’s comfy, easy to change from a couch to a bed, and a good value for the price.
Sturdy and beautiful PaulaI love this purchase. We had our couch for a few weeks now and it looks and feels great. Perfect height for kids and smaller people. It was the perfect addition to our play room. Easy to install.
