New but scratches.JonathanAfter I opened it, there were scratches on the front of one of the drawers front parts (2 of them), and on one of the side plank. I have a pictures of it if you really need it.

Five Alex Drawer Units...LucyWe've just finished putting together 5 Alex Drawer Units to use in setting up sewing tables for our 3 machines. These units are lovely, providing great storage. The directions for assembly were clear and easily followed. We encountered one problem--a drawer side piece with a production flaw that made it impossible to tighten it in place. Ikea customer service for that issue was excellent--a new part arrived in a timely fashion, allowing us to complete the project. We couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Alex drawersPamOnce put all together it's a really great piece but the directions for installing need to be a little more clear. Maybe labeling top and bottom at some points would be more helpful than just a drawing . It was a bit confusing. Otherwise piece is great for my college student

Alex desk drawersAnonymous reviewerI purchased two of these desk drawers for my Alex desk. The instructions were very clear and after doing the first set the 2nd set went together quickly. Definitely need the caster wheels to make the drawers the same ht as the desk. I really like the various depths of drawers as well.

What is particleboard?
Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
