Kitchen helper to the rescue

Everyone deserves a superhero to help out in the kitchen. And even if you don’t have one, here are some super smart tips to make kitchen work easier and more fun.

Looking at cooking with fresh eyes

When you think about it, many tools can be useful in more ways than one. Cooking tongs make it easier to give lemons a good squeeze when you thirst for some home-made lemonade.

Thin slices of all that’s good

An egg slicer is simply too clever to only use for eggs. Quick, easy and without a knife in sight, it chops food in perfect little pieces. Just the right size to plop into your yogurt – or your mouth.

Peel garlic in a box

Separating garlic and peel is suddenly both easy and fun. Put garlic in a jar and really shake it up. Just like that, the cloves are peeled. Why not make a bowl of guacamole?

    Chop vegetables with scissors

    Who needs knives when scissors can do the job just as well? Place the tomatoes – or whatever you want cut in smaller pieces – in a bowl and snip away. And if you’re a kid, see to it that you have a grown-up in the kitchen (so they can do the boring stuff).

    The best tip ever – ice cream in a bag

    Pour 100 ml (millileters) cream, 100 ml milk, 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla in a 1-quart plastic bag (the one with white bands). Seal. Place it in a bigger one (3-quart; turquoise bands) together with 100 ml salt and about 100 ml ice and seal that, too. Shake until its ready, then thank yourself – you’ve just made ice cream.
