Rattan ottomans
Enjoy some natural style while you're putting your feet up with a rattan ottoman or footstool. They make great extra seats when guests drop by, too. Made mostly from renewable materials like rattan and banana leaves, wicker ottomans are equally at home in a living room in December and a sunroom in June.
Rattan ottomans bring natural boho style to any space
With their hand-woven textures, organic materials and laid-back style, rattan ottomans fit seamlessly into coastal or boho-inspired spaces. Layer them alongside soft textiles, greenery and eclectic patterns and suddenly you have an easy-going, earthy retreat.
Have a room filled with upholstered furniture and darker finishes? A wicker ottoman balances things out by adding lighter visual weight and airy texture. Smaller pieces like a rattan pouf work especially well in reading nooks, bedrooms or apartments where they add warmth without bulk.
Combine style and function with rattan ottomans with storage
Throw blankets, books and remotes have a way of multiplying (or disappearing right when you need them). A rattan ottoman with storage keeps everything tucked neatly out of sight while still blending naturally into your living space.
In spaces where every square foot matters, a wicker storage ottoman can double as extra seating or a flexible surface for trays, plants or home decor. In entryways, they’re an easy spot to stash shoes, bags and other grab-and-go gear.
What’s the difference between a rattan and wicker ottoman?
Although the terms are often used interchangeably, rattan and wicker are not the same thing.
Rattan refers to a natural material made from palm stems, while wicker describes the weaving technique used to create the furniture itself. A wicker ottoman may be woven from rattan, but it can also be made from other natural materials like banana fiber, bamboo or seagrass.
Materials matter when it comes to your ottoman. A woven rattan pouf feels casual and collected, plush fabric ottomans soften a space and sleek leather ottomans create a sharper, more tailored look. Don’t be afraid to mix and match materials throughout your home to create contrast!
