Very usefulStaceyThis is one of the most useful and functional pieces I have purchased for my living room.5
Worst assembly process everJixiuThe assembly process for GAMLEHULT Ottoman with storage is SUCH A DISASTER. It should have been so simple - simply putting six screws into six holes. However, the holes were completely covered by this slippery paint material, which was attached to the ottoman itself, and the screws just would not go into the holes. We had FOUR muscular/strong guys (all in their prime times between 20 to 35 years old) and they all could not get this task done. Why this design? Why make something that should have been so simple so complicated for the customers? What was the designer thinking about???1
Perfect ottomanRonsldUnique perfect ottoman to match our decor5
Foot stoolSallyThis is a very attractive and versatile piece of furniture. I’m very happy with this purchase!5
Foot Stool/Cat BedBarbaraLove the unusual look…not comfortable without a cover-too scratchy. But with my lamb skin on top it is the perfect funky look and feel. Cat however, apparently thinks the inside is a little to rough for her.4
Love this OttomanAutumnOk...I hated the look of this when shopping online, my son and I had actually picked a different one but when we got to IKEA we fell in love with this one!!! I have to say it's my favorite piece of new furniture in my son's new room. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!! You will not be disappointed with it.5
Awesome ottomanDarcyWhat a great ottoman to add to my new chair for my Airbnb. Nice to have storage for novels or paper. Very sturdy and so easy to assemble5

I love itOscarI love it5
Not tall enoughSandraI am disappointed with it actually . It is short for chairs that are not from IKEA . The wicker is a little bit rough I got a splinter when attaching the legs .4
Love this!HollyBought for my room to keep my latest reading book in and also to sit and put in my shows. It is beautifully made and durable. My kitty likes to nap inside also lol!5
A perfect cat furnitureMathildeI got it for a shy cat to have both a place to hide and to perch on, and she's been loving it. She also thinks it's a great scratching post. I'll take that for a relaxed cat.5
Fun, funky, and comfyShawnaWe really love this piece of furniture! I replaced a flattened pouf with this. We use it as extra seating when needed and a footrest at other times. Pus, it stores a few extra things in our main living room. It’s exactly what I wanted and easy to assemble!5
Perfect indoor or out!ChristineWe bought two to use as little moveable footstools for our couch. They work great for that — and I should add it was hard to find something that worked with the weird height of our couch, too. Since, we have also used them for extra seats by throwing a pillow on top of it. We can quickly stuff a small throw in the open part. And we can carry them outside easily, for extra casual seating. All in all, great versatile purchase.5
Love the design and materialDorisLove the design and material but cannot get one screw lined up on the bottom. Using it anyway.4
Bad quality control, cheap constructionSharylPurchased 2 of these. On one, the screws were tough to thread but I could do them. On the second, the holes were thick with paint, making it impossible to thread any of the screws. Used wire brushes, screws from the first one, two other adults tried but ended up using zip ties as the nearest IKEA is 1.5 hours one way, unrealistic for a return. Cute product but vastly overpriced for poor quality. Expected better quality for the price.2
God solid furniture for theKathleenGod solid furniture for the price5
Approved!TeresaThis item is well made and is very sturdy. It fits nicely into the place where we needed something for drinks and dessert plates. It also has the added bonus of being am terrific place for our kitties to play.5

Invite nature into your home with rattan

Rattan is a living material with a will of its own. That’s why we work together with experienced weavers who shape the rattan vines to functional products. The cooperation means you can have handmade furniture in your own home - created by man and nature together.

Rattan is a fast-growing palm tree that needs to be boiled and sun-dried before it can be tamed into different shapes that we can sit on, rest in, or decorate our homes with. This is where the professional weavers come in. “We wouldn’t be able to make authentic rattan products without them. They have skills that can’t be copied by machines”, says Andreas Fredriksson, who has designed some of our rattan furniture together with the artisans.

One-of-a-kind furniture

With rattan, it’s possible to create round and organic shapes that are difficult to achieve with other materials. Every rattan vine shifts in color and shape. It makes it impossible to manufacture two pieces of furniture that look exactly the same. On the other hand, you get unique items with a warm and homely feeling. “There are simpler materials to work with, but the liveliness in rattan is what gives it character. It can create a pleasant contrast to some of the other things many of us have at home”, says Andreas.

In cooperation with nature

If rattan is treated right it can be transformed into almost anything, even furniture with generous forms that can fit in a flat pack. But the design is not only up to the designer and the artisan. “You have to cooperate with Mother Nature and come up with some new solutions as well – but the reward when you get everything to harmonize makes it worthwhile”, finishes Andreas.

Material

What is rattan?

Rattan is a strong yet lightweight and flexible material made from the rattan plant’s stem. It can be used both whole and split into thinner materials that are braided into things like furniture and baskets. Rattan belongs to the palm family and climbs along trees, though no trees are required to be felled when the rattan cane is harvested. Since it is a natural material and the products are often handmade by skilled craftspeople, each object gets a completely unique look.
