How does the IKEA 2nd life service work?

Start by using the Buyback 'quotation tool' to check how much store credit you can receive for your used IKEA products. Take your assembled furniture to your nearest IKEA store within 30 days of the date you received the estimate. In the store, the condition of the products will be evaluated and you will be presented with a final value. You'll receive an IKEA cashback card to spend in-store or online.

1. Calculate the value of your product 
Choose the items you want to sell.
See the list of eligible items to check what we can accept. If the product is not listed, we will not be able to accept it. For each order, you can include up to 10 items.
Then, use the Online form to find out how much store credit you can receive for your used IKEA products.
IKEA Family members get an extra 25% in the 2nd Life service.

2. Get your estimate
You will receive your estimate by email, as well as a booking number associated with the transaction.
3. Bring the product back to IKEA
You should go to the IKEA store closer to your products Fully assembled, together with the estimate number, within 30 days of its issuance.
The IKEA 2nd Life service is available in all IKEA stores, except in the Planning and ordering studios.
4. Evaluation and final offer  
Bring your products to the store's Customer Service. Our team checks the status and presents you with a final price.
To be eligible, products must meet the following criteria:
  • Be in good condition and suitable for resale
  • Be included in the list of eligible items
  • Be complete and fully functional
  • Be properly assembled at the time of delivery
  • Be clean and without any modifications
All estimates are subject to a physical inspection of the products by an IKEA co-worker at the IKEA store of your choice. The final amount agreed may therefore differ from the estimate received if the physical inspection shows any discrepancies. Please note that we do not agree to buy back your products until they have been confirmed as IKEA products and their resale condition has been verified by an IKEA co-worker. The amount offered to you by the IKEA co-worker is not open to negotiation, and we reserve the right to refuse any products at our discretion. 
If your product cannot be accepted, you will be given the possibility to recycle it or dispose of it in accordance with IKEA's zero waste policy.
5. Get your IKEA refund card  
A IKEA refund card with the agreed amount, for use online or in-store.
6. Give your products a new life 
All products in good condition will be resold in the Circular Area section of the store.
