How does the IKEA kitchen measurement service work?

Our kitchen measurement service is a simple process designed to provide you with the precise foundation you need for your kitchen plan. Here's a step-by-step guide on how it works, from initial consideration to having a complete set of measurements ready for your design.

1. Plan and prepare
Before booking, it is advisable to start thinking about your future kitchen.
2. Book and manage your appointment
When you are ready, you can book the service.
  • Booking: If you prefer, you can book your planning session online through our online booking system. You can also schedule it at an IKEA planning studio or by visiting an IKEA store.
  • Service payment: The price of the IKEA kitchen measurement verification service is €50. If you proceed with purchasing an IKEA kitchen, this amount will be deducted from the final price of your kitchen. If you do not proceed, the amount is non‑refundable.
  • Changes and cancellations: If your plans change, you can reschedule or cancel your planning session. Simply select the “cancel” option in the email you receive when you book your session. This must be done at least 48 hours in advance.
3. Get ready for your appointment
To ensure that the visit is successful, please complete the following steps before the technician arrives:
  • Confirmation: You may be contacted by the measurement technician for final confirmation of the time and address.
  • Ensure the space is “measure‑ready”: The kitchen must be prepared for accurate measurements. Walls and ceilings must be finished (for example, with plasterboard already applied). All plumbing, gas and electrical connections must be in their final positions. Preferably, your old kitchen should already have been removed, although this is not mandatory. The area must be clear and safe for the technician to work in.
  • Prepare your requirements or restrictions: Have information ready to point out any hidden elements that may affect the project (e.g., concealed pipes) and inform the technician about any other restrictions, such as where to park or how to find the address.
4. The measuring Visit
An experienced and professional technician will visit your home to perform the measurement.
  • Arrival and duration: The technician will arrive within your scheduled time slot. The visit may take up to 120 minutes, depending on the complexity of your kitchen.
  • What the technician does: The technician will take photos and collect all necessary details, including room dimensions, the location of windows, doors, obstacles, and all utility connections (water, gas, electricity, and ventilation).
  • Your role: Please be available to point out any hidden features and answer any questions the technician may have.
  • Service confirmation: At the end, you will be asked to sign a form confirming that the measurement service was carried out according to your expectations.
5. Go to your measurements and start drawing
