The base material is different types of clay that are oven-burned and become things like terracotta, stoneware, pottery and porcelain. At IKEA we mainly use ceramic for plant pots, porcelain, washbasins and kitchen sinks. Since it can be shaped and even glazed to the desired colour and shine, the possibilities of styles and looks are endless.

“When I designed the GODTAGBAR collection, I began by looking at classic vase forms through Scandinavian history. My vision was to make the vases myself using traditional ceramic techniques and add a modern twist in the way the glaze is applied. The expressiveness of the handmade techniques is captured in the forms and carried through to mass production. Craftsmanship placed in a modern context that enhances every occasion!"
