“Making the home a place of learning, experiencing, and growing through play”

[Seoul – November 9] Home furnishing retailer IKEA Korea announced that it will launch the ‘Let’s Play!’ campaign on November 12, to create a happier life at home for the many people by raising awareness on the importance of play in everyday life and promoting children’s right to play.

The ‘Let’s Play!’ campaign was first launched in 2003 by the IKEA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Ingka Group, with the aim of protecting every child’s right to play based on IKEA’s expertise in play and life at home. Through the campaign, IKEA is taking the lead in promoting the benefits for learning, experiencing and growing through play and making our home the most important playground in the world.

During the campaign, IKEA Korea will offer various events and activities for people to experience the wide range of IKEA home furnishings and build more play into their everyday life. The annual ‘Soft Toy Drawing Competition’, for children to express their imagination and creativity, where winning designs will be turned into plush soft toys next year, will be held from November 14 to 22. The competition is open to children of IKEA Family members, under 12 years of age. This year, the competition will be held online through the IKEA Korea website due to COVID-19 social distancing measures. There will be special activities such as ‘Dinosaur Drawing’ and ‘IKEA Soft Toy Trail’ at IKEA Korea’s online and offline stores. Detailed information can be found on the Soft Toy Drawing Competition page of IKEA Korea website from November 9.

Along with the campaign, SAGOSKATT 2020 limited collection – consisting of unique soft toys selected from last year’s competition – will also be launched on November 12 at all IKEA stores and the IKEA Korea official online store. The SAGOSKATT collection is a collection of soft toys designed by children to advocate their right to play, and this year’s SAGOSKATT 2020 limited collection includes toys like ▲ the halloween-themed ’Eggplant Car’ designed by Ayaan and ▲ ’Candy’ designed by Clemence. The turnover from the SAGOSKATT collection is donated to support the children’s right to play through the ‘Save the Playgrounds’ project by Save the Children, an international relief and development NGO for children. This year’s donation was used to improve the play environment at Gongse Elementary School located in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, through the creation of a ‘Happy Tree Garden’.

”Through the ’Let’s Play!’ campaign, we hope to inspire both adults and children to see the importance of learning, experiencing, and growing through play,” said IKEA Korea Commercial Manager Nicolas Johnsson. “As experts in play and life at home, we will continue to enable the many people to enjoy a better everyday life through play.”
