Able to freely customize IKEA VALLENTUNA sofa series through FIRST

[Seoul – May 26] Home furnishing company IKEA has launched a new digital shopping tool called ‘FIRST (Flexible IKEA Range Shopping Tool)’.

FIRST is a digital tool that allows consumers to examine customizable, modular furniture beforehand. Consumers can design the product by selecting the color, size and composition of the modules, and even check the price through the digital tool before purchase. FIRST is available via IKEA website and digital kiosks inside the IKEA store and the products can be purchased at the store.

The first modular furniture that IKEA Korea is introducing through FIRST is the IKEA Vallentuna sofa series. Vallentuna series is composed of independent modules, allowing consumers to conveniently match sofa, bed, and storage modules of different shapes and sizes. The consumers can also choose the sofa cover of their choice. Because consumers can easily alter the module, they can create the sofa based on the usage, living area and lifestyle and can change the composition based on their needs.

Consumers can customize their own version of IKEA Vallentuna sofa through FIRST, and they can put all the articles in the shopping list at once, making it easy to shop for complicated modular furniture.

Nicolas Johnsson, IKEA Korea Country Marketing Manager said, “We are excited to introduce a new digital shopping tool that allows consumers to conveniently design and shop for different modular solutions. Because products can be designed according to customer preference and their living area, we believe this can enhance the shopping experience for IKEA customers.”

FRIST will be run as a pilot program in three countries including Korea, Sweden and Netherlands starting in May, and will be available in all IKEA stores starting in August.
