Co-create the spaces to enable better everyday life at home, starting with bedrooms

[Seoul – March 28, 2019] Home furnishing company IKEA released the IKEA Sustainability Report FY18, detailing the highlights and future initiatives of financial year 2018 from the IKEA value chain and franchise system in its progress towards becoming People & Planet Positive IKEA.

[Seoul – April 15, 2019] Home furnishing retailer IKEA Korea announced the launch of ‘Our Home+IKEA’ campaign to co-create better everyday life at home with Korean customers.

The campaign was launched as a part of IKEA Korea’s efforts to understand and tackle the challenges that many Korean customers are facing today. The campaign will take its first step with the bedroom, shedding light on its role as a space to recharge and unwind, and offering a bedroom makeover solution.

To this end, IKEA Korea carried out a bedroom makeover event among IKEA FAMILY members and visited two selected families to tackle the challenges in bedroom furnishing. IKEA Gwangmyeong transformed the bedroom of a family living with children into a safe space for kids to play, while IKEA Goyang and a 50-year-old couple had their bedroom flipped into a space to enjoy their pastime and relax.

After this pilot makeover for Korean customers with IKEA's home furnishing range, IKEA Korea aims to provide home furnishing ideas and inspirations. Moreover, IKEA Korea will share the ideas generated from the makeover process by displaying the results of transformation at IKEA Gwangmyeong and Goyang, as a way to deliver IKEA’s unique home furnishing solutions to more people.

Upon the launch of the campaign, IKEA Korea introduced the home furnishing challenges and needs of two families with the details of campaign on April 15 through the IKEA website. The retailer will also unveil two campaign films on April 22 that deliver the whole process of creating a new bedroom together with families and showcase the makeover results, offering home furnishing inspirations and makeover solutions to those who have similar challenges.

Yunha Choi, Country Marketing Manager of IKEA Korea, said “We understand that home furnishing can be daunting to some people, and feel delighted to co-create new spaces with our customers through IKEA’s solution,” adding, “we will keep putting efforts to get closer to our customers and offer home furnishing inspirations to enable them improve their lives at home through the campaign.”
