VÄRMER: International style for an Indian home
Winter holidays are a special time, no matter where you live. We try to make them better with our VÄRMER collection of furniture, textiles, decoration and more. That’s why we got two different families from two different parts of the globe to be the creative minds behind the collection.

Holiday time is family time
Kenyan couple Bethan Rayner and Naeem Biviji and Swedish Sarah and Jens Fager are the driving force for VÄRMER. With their insight, we could see how holidays are spent in different parts of the world. Surprise, surprise, they are not very different. The main idea behind this collection is to make the holiday season (the time where we get free from our busy lives) easier and fun for the family.
From the cosy indoors…
Sarah and Jens Fager reveal that Southern Sweden, their home, gets really wet, cold and dark during the autumns and winters. But wait, it’s not as bad as it sounds. “We really love the holiday season, cosying up with family and friends, cooking, crafting, and playing games, so the items we’ve designed for VÄRMER are very personal. We’ve created functional objects, with a high design value, made in materials that will last for many years to come”, says Sarah.
To the fun outdoors...
While Sweden might prefer cocooning indoors, Kenya is a whole different story. “The whole country stops from the 15th of December until the New Year. It gets hot, and avocado and mango come into season. It’s a festive time when everyone hangs out together outdoors”, says Bethan. The products are designed keeping these differences between the families in mind, and also Kenyan traditions. “On the whole, our products are about making it easier and more fun to get together. Hopefully people will use them all regardless of the season.”
It turned out that it doesn’t matter whether you live in the Northern or the Southern Hemisphere – we do pretty much the same things. We eat, we play games, we hang out together.”
