You can choose to hang the pendant lamp over your dining table or closer to the ceiling for general lighting in the room.
Use a cord set to easily adjust the length of the cord for your pendant lamp. When the lamp hangs at the perfect height, gather the remaining cord in the ceiling cup and then mount it tight to the ceiling.

Good light but poor hight adjustment!Anonymous reviewerThe light itself looks great. However, the IKEA method of changing the hight is to spool the flex through a clip and this big drooping loop of flex is visible (and droops down onto the light globe). The electrictal termination is hird wired so its imposible to cut the flex to the correct length as you can't reattach the electrical terminator!
