Quirky and large statementAnonymous reviewerThis looks like a great design, which it is. There are just a few issues. The mechanism is not very smooth, so you have to really pull down, putting straine on the hook and makes the cheap plastic rose to move each time and not fit snug to the ceiling. We bought a 30cm globe, our ceiling is 2.4 meters high, we did not realise once opened fully, we needed to allow a drop from the ceiling of 80cm (with cable 25cm). We have clearance of 1.6 metres below the string pull bobble - in the middle of the room!! I advise you use the full length if the cable to hook it higher and over a piece of furniture, not where people walk under it.3
No Ceiling fixingAnonymous reviewerWould really need a screwed ceiling fixture2
DisappointedAnonymous reviewerThought the design was really cool in the shop, however been really disappointed with how much light it lets out, even when open. Unfortunately I've had to replace these, which seems an expensive mistake.1
Don’t buyAnonymous reviewerThe plastic cup to cover wires is an absolute joke. Does not flush to the ceiling I’ve tried and I’ve tried very poor design.1
Not worth itAnonymous reviewerThe round part that is meant to attach to the ceiling has no clip to hold it on. Its not safe at all as soon as you go to pull it to open it falls from the ceiling you have bare wiring hanging down. Not safe at all1
Pendant Lamp - love it !Anonymous reviewerWe love the lamp, it has a bit of a futuristic and very modern look and feel. Just what we wanted.5
Steer clearAnonymous reviewerVery attractive light, easy to put together. Absolutely impossible to put up. You will likely need an electrician if your house is more than 20 years old. You will need to fiddle with the fittings and likely need cable ties to get everything to fit and stay put in the flimsy plastic ceiling cup. You will need to provide your own hook that is the right length and strong enough. Thats if your own ceiling rose is compatible with the simple fittings on the Ikea lamp and you can attached your hook in the right place - ie. directly through the middle of your existing pre wired UK loop wiring. AVOID1
Don’t do itAnonymous reviewerComes on pieces, took a bit of working out to put it together. Feels very cheap. Doesn’t allow enough light out, even when fully open. Looks stylish but not functional unless you like living in the dark.2
Doesn't fit flush to ceilingAnonymous reviewerThe light looks great but it is very difficult to get the cup to finish flush to the ceiling. All the strain is on the flex. There needs to be a mechanical way to fix the Cup to the hook similar to their other designs. Looks great, absolutely terrible to install. Please look at this IKEA.2
IKEA PS 2014Anonymous reviewerWhat a nightmare, looks amazing in the shop but so difficult to wire and hang, The instructions are difficult to understand and i consider myself to be quite savvy with these kind of things. The plastic bowl at the top which is suppose to hide all the wiring from inside the cieling does not fit flush , i have tried many times to re-adjust it but it still will not sit flush to the cieling so frustrating . I wish i hadn't purchased this product1
Modern and quirkyAnonymous reviewerLove that it expands light and lowers it when wanted. Suits dining room over a table and suits other rooms 5
Great talking pointAnonymous reviewerI bought this ceiling light in the gold and white
a few years ago and it never fails to attract comments from guests. I would love to have one
in black with gold on the inside for my bedroom
if possible.5
What a work of artAnonymous reviewerDavid Wahl made a absolute wonder. Easy to assemble and easy to fit. All done in less than 60 mins. No problems at all.5
Terrible fittingsAnonymous reviewerDo not buy unless you are prepared to make modifications and figure out how to fix it to the ceiling safely by yourself!
It looks good but it is extremely difficult to fit properly to the ceiling. The lack of a fixture to fit to the ceiling makes it very impractical, and rather unsafe. Every time my son tries to close or open it, I am expecting the whole thing to fall to the ground. The designers should definitely address the issue! 2
Didn't come with ceiling hookAnonymous reviewerI liked the design at first and in the showroom. when i opened the packaging i realised they didn't include the ceiling hook to hang it. Very disappointing as I paid quite a bit for a light that i now cannot hang myself.2
Great looking lighting dreadful fittings Anonymous reviewerReally good looking light let down by awful fitting to connect to the ceiling as in none. Lets down a great looking item3
Says delivered not deliveredAnonymous reviewerProduct not delivered when said it was delivered 2
ceiling lampAnonymous reviewerA*****5
Great fun lampsAnonymous reviewerI didn't find it a problem to make them up and they look great in the lounge/diner with colour changing bulbs.
As other reviewers have said the drawbacks are the lack of a cup hook (which would not be a problem if made clear when purchasing) to hang the lamp, poor instructions and far too much cable, which has gone to landfill. Really wanted a ceiling light to be on the ceiling not the coffee table.4
Wire Too longAnonymous reviewerShade itself is lovely. Easy to put shade together (do it before installation as easy to hang). You have to buy a steel clip for it to hang off. Wire is was too long & you either gave to cut it or place in round plastic ceiling rose that comes with it. 4
