Perfect unusual lampshadeHappytravellingmumI really like this unusual put together yourself lampshade and just had to have it for my living room. I get lots of very complimentary comments and it looks more expensive than it is. It is made of tough plastic clip together pieces. The instructions to put together are all drawings but I figured out the construction but recommend an electrician to install. The instructions show a hook to secure the lampshade to the ceiling, to take the weight, which isn't included. The pendant cord is also far too long and needs to be shortened, as it will not all fit into the ceiling cup5
Let down by fittings coverAjh27The light itself is amazing. Looks really good and the remote changing colour bulb for a child’s bedroom is good fun. The problem is the cover for the wiring .no matter what you do you cannot get it to sit flush on the ceiling so let’s down the overall finish4
Difficult to put upGem333333Brought 2 for the hallway... was easy to assemble but trying to put it up was a nightmare, the instructions are no good. I watched YouTube videos and they were no good, spent hours and hours trying to attach it to the ceiling but it kept sliding back down and it wasnt flush to the ceiling. Was going to return it but instead we used another fitting that fits flush to the ceiling. Really disappointing for a beautiful pendant light.2
Unique lightSpitz4966Easy to assemble,looks good.5
Looks amazing. When finishedKreebeePossibly one of the most difficult lampshades to piece together that I’ve ever bought. And I had to get an electrician to fit it. But once it’s up it does look incredible.4
A wow factor to our roomEmdazcapSo so please such a wow feature brought 25
FabulousMichelle NZReminded me of the Death Star so my son has it in his room. Realistically I could have used it anywhere in the house as it looks great.5
pendant lampcockneyI thought it was metal connectors, especially for £60. It's all plastic. I will be returning1
Christina 3Lovely pendant light good quality for the price looks stunning in our dining room very pleased4
Pendant light shadeMrsnfrEasy to make and fit. Looks super5
Nightmare to installJuttySo far have taken 3 hours to try & fit. First obstacle was getting thing fixed to ceiling then to stay flush with ceiling. First try fell from ceiling after pulling cord to open/close display. Just cannot get top to stay flush so light looks ok. Surprised designer has his name on box!!1
Nightmare to put up and SO much plastic packagingalbafoxThe light looks awesome when up, but as others have said this needs attaching via a ceiling hook, which isn't provided despite high price tag. The way this is designed means it's next to impossible to get it to sit flush to the ceiling as the plastic dome is just free hanging and doesn't clip to anything. Also the amount of plastic bags within plastic bags was ridiculous, not eco friendly whatsoever hence 3*3
DenicaGreat quality,very beautiful shade5
Pendant lampMatlock buyerLooked very good in store but not very practical when fitted but it does not give enough light so no good as a main light. It looks different (reminds me a the Star Wars Death Star) but not a good buy if you want it as your main light3
Poor cable tidy and tightening mechanism.DJSpence18After installing the light using the instructions given, the light slides down from the connection to the roof as the mech to tighten the cable is poor, I have had to make several adjustments to the cable each time I open and close the light. Needs to have a lock grip of some kind to stop this from happening. I love the effect the light gives but am continually reluctant to open and close it as in 5 days time I will have to re-tighten it.2
Unusual - Starwars Like!TDFKFuturistic type of lamp!! Haven’t seen anything like it before... Kids love it!5
Looks stunning, pain to get install.Vickyno19So, like most people, I was drawn to purchasing this ceiling light because of it's unusual design. It's appearance is stunning, it's really cool and the way it throws the light really is amazing, not very bright though. I have installed this in my bedroom so is perfect for there. However, installing was an absolute pain! Part I will admit was due to human error. Once the wires are connected *correctly*, the fun part starts... getting it to sit flush with the ceiling. The cord is so long, you end up wrapping it round numerous times and then have to find a way to fit all this wire into the dome surround and then find a way of making it stay where it is for you to pull the cord tight so the dome fits flush to the ceiling. Mine is still not flush, it's got about a cm gap from the ceiling, but at this point I am past caring. So to summarise, Is this light beautiful? yes. Is it worth £60 of your hard earned cash and every ounce of your patience and sanity? Absolutely not.3
BrilliantSteph12012Brilliant light everyone comments on it says how unusual and cool it is! only bad thing is the packaging there was alot of pieces and everything wrapped separately.4
Statement lightMandy56Very happy with this light . It’s a statement piece and also gives a good light . Love the way you can open and close it to decide on how much light you want5

Our take on plastic

Plastic is a key material for IKEA and remains so going forward. It is strong, durable, lightweight and versatile. It is a main component in a large amount of our products and has a wide variety of applications from surface materials such as paint and foil, to screws and shelf pegs. There is a lot of valid concern regarding how plastic impacts the environment and at IKEA we take this very seriously. As part of our larger circular journey and transition from virgin fossil based material, we are working hard to change all plastic in our home furnishing products to plastic made from recycled and/or renewable raw materials.

Only recycled or renewable plastic

Plastic is most commonly derived from oil and gas, which are non-renewable fossil sources. These sources do not renew themselves and will eventually be depleted. Our ambition is that by 2030, all plastic used in our products will be based on renewable or recycled materials. Renewable plastic is made from materials such as vegetable oil, corn, wheat grain and sugar cane. Recycled plastic allows us to give a second life to non-biodegradable products such as PET bottles that would otherwise end up in landfill. Using recyclable sources also lessens our dependency on oil as a raw material. Currently more than 40% of our plastic products are based on recycled and renewable materials and our aim is to reach 100%. As we add products made from recycled and renewable materials to our offer, we hope to inspire other companies to do the same.

Phasing out single-use plastic

Single-use plastic items pollute ecosystems if not disposed of responsibly. As part of our commitment to people and the planet, all single-use plastic products from the global home furnishing range were phased out in 2020. This includes items such as plates, cups and plastic straws offered in our restaurants, bistros, and cafes. These were replaced by disposables made from 100% renewable sources.

PET and PP, our most commonly used plastics

Polythylene terephthalate (PET) and Polypropylene (PP) are durable, hygienic and shatter-resistant plastics. They absorb very little water and have good chemical resistance. Both PET and PP can be reused and recycled, which reduces waste and gives the product several lives through use and reuse. PET is the most recycled plastic in the world and can be used for many different purposes such as plastic bottles and containers for packaging food and beverages as well as for personal care products, pharmaceuticals and many other consumer products. At IKEA we mainly use recycled PET in boxes, filling material for textiles and kitchen front foil. PET is approved by health-agencies as safe to use for food and beverage. IKEA uses recycled PET that is post-consumer based, which means it is based on collected and sorted PET bottles.

Clean and safe

IKEA takes product safety very seriously and all products are tested and comply with the strictest possible laws and safety standards on all IKEA markets. Customers should always feel confident that products bought at IKEA are safe and healthy to use. IKEA wants to minimize or totally refrain from the use of chemicals and substances that can be harmful to people and the environment.

Together, we can do more

Our journey towards only using recycled or renewable plastic will take some time and require new ways of doing things, but we are determined to take responsibility and find new solutions. We want to give our customers the possibility to choose products made from more sustainable materials that can be recycled again one day. Together, we can make a big difference!
