Sustainable sourcing​

We believe that everything we do comes with a responsibility to consider our impact on people, society, and the planet across our value chain.​ For us, it is about balancing economic growth and positive social impact with environmental protection and regeneration. Responsible sourcing of raw materials and production plays a large part in this.

We’re committed to taking responsibility throughout our entire value chain. Together with our partners, we work to create long term positive change, focusing on root-causes. We want to make responsible sourcing the norm across our businesses and beyond.

Our Responsible Sourcing of Raw Materials Framework

This framework helps ensure that IKEA agricultural raw materials are produced in a way that results in healthy soils. This includes practices that improve soil organic carbon, prevent soil erosion and nutrient run-off, employ low or no tillage, and that include beneficial grazing practices.

Making the world better, one coffee break at a time

PÅTÅR coffee is organic to EU standards and UTZ/Rainforest Alliance Certified, a combination that takes care of both coffee growers and the environment. The coffee served in our Swedish Restaurants, Swedish Deli and Bistros meets these requirements too. UTZ is now part of the Rainforest Alliance.

Your chocolate choice matters

When cocoa farmers join the UTZ/Rainforest Alliance program, they are trained to implement farming methods that decrease the use of harmful chemicals and manage water-use and soil in better, more sustainable ways. This increases yields, while decreasing cocoa plantation deforestation.

Rainforest Alliance

A product with the Rainforest Alliance seal contains one or more key ingredients produced with practices which encourage the protection of biodiversity, conservation of ecosystems and fair labour.

SJÖRAPPORT series offers a wide range of seafood products. All farming, fishing and harvesting of our seafood takes great care not to disturb the sensitive marine ecosystems.

Nutritious, sustainable salmon

Salmon is a tasty meal that can be enjoyed at home or in IKEA restaurants. Typically Scandinavian, they not only add important nutrients to your diet, they’re also a more sustainable choice as they’re made from off-cuts from salmon fillet production.
