Can I still shop at IKEA Richmond?

Yes, customers can still shop at IKEA Richmond as the store is operating as normal. Visit the IKEA Richmond store page for information on store hours, services, in-store offers, and store events. We look forward to seeing you soon!

How is IKEA Richmond growing?

The expansion is scheduled to open in 2027. Throughout the project, there will be different types of construction work being done at the site. From now until Spring 2026, piling will be conducted at the site. IKEA is committed to keeping co-workers, customers and the community informed, including sharing our construction work schedule.

The newly expanded IKEA Richmond site will enable IKEA to provide an even stronger customer experience and more efficient home deliveries to our customers throughout British Columbia. Once completed, the two-storey warehouse extension to the existing IKEA Richmond store will include a covered loading area, Click & collect area, and upper-level warehouse (not accessible to customers).

How will IKEA Richmond continue its commitment to being sustainable?

As a major home furnishing retailer, IKEA believes in having a positive impact on both people and the planet. Globally, we are committed to accelerating climate action by 2030, which includes cutting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by half across the entire value chain and striving for net-zero emissions by 2050.

To support our sustainability ambitions, the Richmond expansion will introduce an EV delivery fleet, high-efficiency mechanical systems with heat recovery, and a high-performance building envelope, alongside tracking of low-impact materials and construction waste. With support from external partners such as Light House, our project is registered under the LEED® green building program and will target LEED® Gold certification upon completion, reflecting an important shift toward integrated, low-carbon logistics at scale.

When will the expansion project be completed?

The expansion is scheduled to open in Fall 2027. Throughout the project, there will be different types of construction work being done at the site. From now until Spring 2026, piling will be conducted at the site. IKEA is committed to keeping co-workers, customers and the community informed, including sharing our construction work schedule.

Will there be any impact to the neighbourhood because of the construction?

IKEA is committed to being a good neighbour; we all want to live, work, and play in our community. We will do our best to minimize any impact and keep co-workers, customers, and the community informed throughout the project.

We are committed to following city bylaws and are working with the City of Richmond to ensure that we align with rules and standards. IKEA has undertaken noise measurements in our neighbourhood and the Vancouver International Airport also maintains noise monitoring stations throughout Vancouver, including the Bath/Slough trail area. Measurements taken are below Health Canada guidelines for residential communities.

In addition, IKEA has implemented mitigations such as noise dampening blankets and a staggered piling process to help lower noise levels. We continue to explore additional strategies and will share updated information with the community.
