el960501This loft bed fits perfectly in my little workspace, I never thpght I can turn my work space into a bedroom too. This product really gives me a private space to live in, it is the best product from Ikea I've ever seen5
Quality issue, please help me IKEAIkeaCustomer3002Bought recently. The maximum mattress thickness could be bad for some. Worked great however someone over the 100kg weight limit went on it and it became creaky afterwards (The total time they were on was about 1.5 hours, they weren’t allowed to go on but they went on when I wasn’t there) During assembly a screw would not screw in properly and extreme force was needed to get it to go all the way in. The metal part doesn’t creak but it seems something has gone wrong with the curved wooden slats. They now creak whenever someone at 65 kg gets on. Is it possible to buy new slats or get the slats replaced for it? Please let me know IKEA I would like to get this fixed.3
Disappointed: CreakingdandisappointedLOUD CREAKING! The maximum weight limit for this bed is 100 kg, so I was surprised that it creaks very loudly when I move on the bed. I am 57 kg so I don't understand entirely why this is happening. From my knowledge it is just coming from the curved wood slats bending. The metal part of the frame including the ladder seems very sturdy so I don't think its coming from that. During the assembly, one of the long screws would not go in straight all the way into a long piece. On the other side of the part it would screw in just fine, but then we would still be having to screw into. We had to use a drill to get it to go in all the way. It wasn't a bad screw, just the threads in the part were messed up. To make matters worse we can't return it since we don't have a way to transport it, and even if we could we don't have the box anymore, some of the paint is chipped, one of the plastic flathead screws is broken, the label from one of the fabric guards was removed, 1 screw is stripped, and that drilling must've been bad for the bed. I even got a 12 cm thick mattress for this thing but the creaking is too much. I've had other furniture from IKEA but I've never had anything like this happen before. If there was a way I could fix the creaking this would be an easy 4 star recommendation, but looking at the other reviews it seems that I got a dud.1
Great loft bedSparrodMy son loves this bed more space to play and easy to build5
Easy to assemblePage3Very easy to assemble and so far have not had any issues4
Great for a 10yo boy !Max6P1With a 8 feet ceiling, enough space for my boy. Harder for us to adjust his duvet. Enough space below the bed to add a sofa we already have.5
ehkassidybheardi brought this about a week ago and have had many difficulties. 1. it took so long to build 2. some things were short or just didn’t fit so i spent almost an hour trying to get a screw in when in the end giving up and having the fear of falling at all times 3. super squeaky whenever you move which may need some tightening 4. looks are pretty good. in the end it was pretty worth it and my daughter really enjoys it3
looks great, working on the creakslulimamaNicest of the metal loft beds IKEA has sold given white colour and fabric sides. Have had it up for about 3 weeks and it has taken a fair bit of tightening to rid it of the creaking when my child climbs in or out, or turns over. Counting on this resolving itself and not being an ongoing issue. It is stable and sturdy! Works for boys and girls. Ours 8' ceiling and the bed is pretty high. Using a shelving unit next to the foot of the bed so that can have a fan - definitely needed for warm or summer nights.4
Easy to transport, sleek lookingTianjennyAll good except taking hours to build.4

More relaxing, less materials

Where do your children spend most of their waking hours at home? Quite likely the answer is in their bed. Because when life for slightly older children today often revolves around phones, tablets and friends, a lot more space than that “hub” isn’t really needed. With VITVAL loft bed and bunk bed, we wanted to make comfortable and cozy beds for all children who prefer hanging out there. But the goal was also to considerably reduce the amount of materials to save on nature's resources.  Read More
Metal is a durable and stable material and really suited VITVAL bed frames. The question was just how much we could reduce the amount of the metal used without decreasing stability and safety. Product developer Anna Carme and her colleagues performed detailed calculations and safety tests. "We came a long way", says Anna. "But it was not enough ― we thought the bed frames were still too heavy."

30% less metal

Experimenting with materials led to the team replacing the bed's edges with fabric. This meant that they managed to reduce the amount of metal by almost one third compared to similar beds. "We found a strong polyester material that also gives the bed a nice and cozy feel ― both when the children hang out there with friends and when it’s time to sleep."

Easy to assemble

"The fabric is mounted on the frame", explains Anna. "And to ensure that the assembly is simple for all parents, we invited a number of people to test it out." The tests then led to the team dividing the fabric into sections and making the yellow edge bands more flexible so that they are easier to pull on. "I love playing detective, to look for and investigate what we have for different alternatives", says Anna. "Nothing beats the feeling when you finally find a good solution."

More relaxing, less materials

The idea with VITVAL loft bed and bunk bed was to make comfortable and cozy beds for all children who like hanging out with their phones, tablets and friends. But we also wanted to save on nature’s resources and limit the amount of metal in the beds. So how do you achieve two so different goals at the same time? Our solution was to make the bed edges out of a strong polyester fabric that gave the bed a nice and cozy feel ― and we thereby reduced the metal by 30% in each bed.
