Not compatible with rechargable batteriesAllenThis clock is very light so it is less dangerous when fallen from the wall. While it looks simple and elegant, it is not reliable in telling time accurately over time. It works with fresh disposable alkaline batteries at 1.6V+ but start running 5-10mins slow per day as soon as voltage drops below 1.5V. With rechargeable 1.2V NiMH batteries, this clock would start running slow soon after replacement. If IKEA is selling rechargable batteries only, it should ensure devices sold are compatible with 1.2V rechargeable AA or AAA.1
