Design flaw - Vatterso is better designed DebashisFabric ripped during installation. There are several plastic rods that gives the product rigidity. Trouble is that there are many places where these rods directly touch the fabric. Those end are sharp enough such that under tension they can, and in my case one did, rip through the fabric. Of the different such rods, the one that goes across the top of the arched side rods is under the most amount of tension. That’s is exactly where mine ripped. Interesting to note: while returning the product, I found it on display in IKEA. And I noticed that the top tension rod is not connected to either end of the arched side rods. Coincident? Or is IKEA aware of this design flaw.
Vatterso appears to be better designed; in the sense that there appears to be no sharp edged component is putting force on the fabric. Will write a review after installing.1
Disappointing fabric quality.CarolynThe fabric is quite flimsy, as the plastic bracket on the end of one of the long rods sliced a 1.5 inch long hole in the material whilst I was assembling it. Went together quite easily, without any force needed. Going to try and patch the hole with a tent patch. Not worth the trouble to return at this price point; wish I'd got it on sale to take some of the sting out though. Shame I can't include a picture.2
Great if you can keep it coveredMeaganWe had this for a year under our covered deck and it was great. Then we moved to a place last year with no outdoor awning. We put it up against the house hoping the eave would give some coverage. I just opened it up to pull out my hammock to enjoy the spring weather and everything is moldy and there's a layer of water at the bottom. The zippers and seams are all still perfectly functional. Really disappointed. 3
