Great price, great productTinaLove the IKEA STARKVIND air purifiers. They are quiet, and well-priced.
Keeping down the dust!ChristineAttractive, almost imperceptible when running. Put it in the bedroom where the heavy dust collects and needs constantly sweeping. Seems to be less dust since using. Important to find an associate with knowledge of the product. It says on the box that a filter isn’t included so looked for the relevant filter. There were two, (difficult to get clarity on the filter that fit STARKVIND) one that said for dust and another said for gas. I had to stop an assistant and asked her but she was from a different department so had to call to ask someone. She suggested that I just take the dust one but living on Vancouver Island and not having easy access to IKEA Itook both,(plus extra) and was pleased I did. I had to call IKEA when putting together as a filter was included so thought I was doing something wrong. Feel more associates needed on the floor that are knowledgeable in the products of the department they are in.
Not very long lastingEtienneUnfortunately, this carbon filter only includes less than 333g of filter media. It lasted just over 2 weeks before it started smelling sour, which is a sign the filter media is saturated and should be replaced. Definitely not 6 months.
My usage was a tiny bit of cooking, running the filter at level 1 or 2, 24/7. The windows are closed and the air exchanger only runs when the air quality outside is good, although I do live close to a busy street.
It is cheap, but at this run rate, it's over $400 per year.
I would suggest turning off the filter when cooking and running an air exchanger or opening windows until the air quality is back to acceptable levels to save some utility for cleaning external VOCs.
Unfortunately, the air quality sensor sold by IKEA only detects PM2.5, so it is impossible to know if the VOCs are high or low.
Sour smell from filterAmandaUnfortunately, I will have to return this item because it has a strange sour smell coming from the filter. When we ran the Starkvind purifier, it made the whole room stink with the smell, and when I removed this carbon filter and only used the main filter, the smell disappeared.
