Product details

SÖDERHAMN seating series allows you to sit deeply, low and softly with the loose back cushions for extra support.

Light, airy design with high legs and slim lines, yet still a great comfort thanks to the elastic weave in the bottom and high resilience foam in the seat cushions.

The sofa's sections can be used freestanding or combined in different ways to get a size and shape that suits you and your home.

If you need a larger sofa, you can add a section or two to your existing combination.

You can create your own perfect combination with the planning tool. Assemble, take apart and put together again until it’s just right.

The removable back cushions give your body support where needed. For example, place several behind your back for a more upright position or use them to make it comfortable when lying down and reading.

The depth of the sofa makes it perfect for relaxing or even taking a nice nap.

You can choose to use the sofa with or without armrests, depending on the expression you want to create.

The high legs make it easy to clean the floor under the sofa.

This cover is made of the fabric Viarp in cotton and polyester. It has a clear texture and a mélange effect that makes it less sensitive to stains.

The cover is easy to keep clean since it can be machine washed and is easy to take off and put on again.

10-year warranty. Read about the terms in the warranty brochure.

Ratings and reviews

It’s very comfortable the onlyFatimaIt’s very comfortable the only problem that I have is the separation between two cushion that you suppose to seat on them but if three people seat on it one person will be in the middle of the cushion and that person gonna be uncomfortable and you can not lay down on it as well because you ‘ll feel the separation while you are laying down on it except this problem I think it’s nice and comfortable3
Super comfyChantalLove this sofa, it's big and soft with cushions that you can move around to create extra support where you need it. Only drawback is that the fabric is a little scratchy. Overall I'd buy it again!4
I wish I could give them zero starsAnnaJust got my couch delivered. I ordered LIGHT BEIGE color, assuming I'll get a sofa in a nice beige color as indicated on the pictures. The couch I got is WHITE, the color is totally off. I do understand that the actual color might be slightly different, but it's completely off. I just had a chat with IKEA representative and sent him all the pictures, he was laughing saying it's exactly the same. I'm not blind. And I paid $59 delivery fee for nothing, now I have to go to IKEA and return this couch by myself.1

SoderhammCatherineIt looks of poor quality. Probably going to return it.1
Good quality sofaFawadGood quality, very comfortable sofa, with different cloth options available. Sofa can be configured to suit your room. Covers can also be changed/ washed. It's deep sofa (40" approx) but actually takes up same space as regular sofa. I think it needs more pillows. We put some extra pillows and it looks perfect.5
Good couchMustafaCushion padding are too thin…everything else is great!4
spacious but not too comfyChaowatLove the space on this couch. The cushions are a bit too stiff for me. almost like just a plank with thin cushion for your butt. The cover material are also really easy to get wrinkles although after I ironed them. It is a decent couch, but might not be the best for the price.3
DO NOT RECOMMENDPinarThe sofa made of unbelievably poor quality materials. The pillows are far from having regular pillow texture, the label says it made from recycled polyester - which totally feels like plastic. But the real issue is that the price is definitely not cheap comparing to quality. You can easily purchase better sofa's from other stores. Half way on my assembling, I realized that it was a huge mistake and I just returned it.1
Horrible open space between cushionsCalebThe sofa looks cool but unfortunately it’s not well designed or constructed well enough. The cushions are super thin with flattened edges that look grubby and worn. The cushions slide around exposing 4” wide gaps between the seat cushions in places that you’ll naturally sit or have your hip/shoulder when lying down. You’ll end up feeling the plywood frame every time you use this sofa. Very dissapointed.1
Perfect look, size, functionality.Verified BuyerPerfect look, size, functionality. Happy with the purchase5
Great Sofa with modern designSooI have been using this sofa for more than 2 years. It is pretty comfy and the covers are washable. Sometime I used it for daybed since it is pretty deep and wide. ( I am 6 ft tall)5
Does not hold upVerified BuyerReally bad quality sofa. Started sagging a year in making it really uncomfortable. Before some customer service rep replies to this suggesting I bring in an 82 inch wide sofa into a Ikea store an hour away with a paper receipt that I no longer have, because you don't keep records to actively discourage warranty use, please don't.1
UncomfortableAntonellaBest thing about this sofa series - its modular and you are able to completely transform your living room using as many or few pieces. BUT - its extremely uncomfortable. The seat cushions are thin, you do not rest or relax while sitting / lying down on them. The back cushions are shaped oddly and WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE. We are left with adjusting the back cushions constantly to get the right angle / prevent back ache. Buyers beware - its a sexy looking sofa, but we are not happy and looking to buy something completely different.1
Not greatVerified BuyerIt works but this was very uncomfortable for us. Not a lot of room and if you have pets, don’t bother with the white covers. We returned ours. The pillows were uncomfortable and the seat cushions don’t stay in place. We bought the landskrona and it’s SO much better.2
Comfortable and style!TalitaI bought this couch one week ago and it is in fact, a very comfortable sofa! The deep seats are perfect for a nap! My only comment about this, it's about the foam of the seat: one of them it's thinner than the other, which makes one of the seats more comfortable than the other one4
Love it!Verified BuyerI'm absolutely obsessed with this couch! It's incredibly comfortable and spacious; so spacious that the boyfriend and I decided to just sleep on it after we built it! For the price, you can't go wrong. My only complaint is that the all of the covers need to be ironed before they can be put on the cushions, so if you don't own an ironing board and iron, I highly suggest getting your hands on both beforehand.5
So comfy!Verified BuyerI bought this sofa in white, just the two seater with arm rests. Came in large boxes, I had to remove the boxes at the store in order to fit in in an SUV. It was super easy to put together, and is sooooo comfortable. The couch seats are very deep, perfect for sleepovers! Material zips off for easy cleaning. I added my own throw pillows to give it the ultimate look, worth the money!5

Our take on cotton

We use cotton in many of our products, from sofas and cushions to bed linen and mattresses. It is a soft, durable and renewable fibre that breathes and is good at absorbing moisture. All these great qualities make cotton one of our most important materials, but it isn’t without its challenges, much having to do with conventional farming methods that negatively impact the environment and poor working conditions for farmers. With our size and production volumes, we want to drive change in the cotton industry.

Working together to drive change

Each year, IKEA uses around 0.5 percent of all cotton grown around the world. This may not seem like a lot, but the number is big enough to drive change in the industry. For many years, we have been working with partners and stakeholders globally to transform conventional large-scale cotton farming and set social and environmental standards for cotton production. As an example, we helped set up the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) who runs the world’s largest cotton sustainability programme. BCI exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in and better for the sector’s future. Today, more than 110,000 farmers have adopted more sustainable farming practices within IKEA projects.

Ensuring compliance throughout the value chain

All IKEA products are produced in accordance with the IKEA IWAY Standard, our Supplier Code of Conduct. It sets out the minimum environmental and social standards expected from our suppliers, including compliance with local laws. We do not accept any form of forced labour, child labour or treatments in breach of our supply chain requirements. Our cotton teams across the globe ensure that all cotton used in IKEA products meets the demands of compliance in our supply chain. By having teams on the ground in areas where it has previously been challenging to work responsibly, we can challenge the traditional ways of working and improve the industry. If we discover that we are acting in places where we cannot ensure our requirements are being met, we follow-up on the ground and drive change.

Material

What is cotton?

Cotton is one of the world's most appreciated and used natural fibres. Textiles in cotton are soft, hardwearing and can be washed at high temperatures. They are also good at breathing and absorbing moisture – making them pleasant to wear close to the body. Today at IKEA we use more and more recycled cotton and strive to make sure that all the new cotton we use has been grown and produced with less and less amounts of pesticides, fertilizers and water.
