IKEA makes great cabinetsJasonThese cabinets are a great quality for the price. I’ve built 4 kitchens with them now, 2 bars and 1 garage workshops. Built tough, easy to assemble and modular. Big fan of these Sektion line5
Collapsed! Bowed outward, shelves fell down, broke our things, and injured meAnonymous reviewerWe purchased this brand new from IKEA. I used the IKEA kitchen planner to plan this cabinet, and bought all the pieces it told us to. We METICULOUSLY built it and secured it to the wall exactly as instructed by IKEA's instruction booklet. When I put our stuff in it, the sides bowed outwards, the plastic "nails" holding the back panel on ripped out, and all the shelves (including ones with with my glass serving ware, all fell down) - this shattered my glassware, injured me, and damaged the finish on the interior of the cabinet unit. These shelves claim a weight capacity of 80 lbs - the combined weight of ALL my things wasn't even 80 pounds, and the unit still collapsed. Billy bookcases have a more secure method of ensuring the unit won't bow outwards - the center shelves are locked in place. But Sektion uses a shelf with PLASTIC inserts to hang onto the little screw-like things the shelf rests on to prevent bowing (which clearly didn't work!). Awful!1
Used for Laundry roomPaulEasy to put together5
Bad instructions, poor build qualityBenBetter to stick to Billys if you just want some bulk storage options. Instructions not helpful, design is flimsy, and more expensive. Finish quality slightly better, but if appearance is not important, just buy Billy cases.1
Tall & spaciousSanjuktaI bought this storage unit online, so I hadn’t fully envisioned the actual size. But we’re super happy with how it turned out. This unit goes from floor to ceiling 7 or 8 feet high. Deep and wide, with multiple shelves, making it very spacious for storing away so many things.5
Cabinet used for oven microwave combination KarenWas easy to assemble 5
No surprisesDaveI bought this cabinet to renovate a bedroom closet. It suited my purpose perfectly. I found a version that was exactly the right size for the space I wanted to fill. Assembly and installation was straightforward. The only exception the rail that attaches to the back wall. It took great care to install correctly.5
Versatile Building blockMarnieWe have used this piece in many different applications from holding a Grandfather clock to a many drawer cabinet for china, with doors and without.5
Sektion KitchenRoseI purchased an entire sektion kitchen; this unit was the last piece to come. It completed my kitchen, which I was able to build myself and hire an installer to hang all the cabinets.5

Could have been better, but there design team trusts the computer.Anonymous reviewerIkea design team trust the fact their computer says it should work. The team obviously never tried themselves to put it together. Everything was going good until you put the handles on the drawers and drawers.3
Perfect for our laundry looksJoannePerfect for our laundry looks built in5
Press board, not hardwood. VeryAnnePress board, not hardwood. Very heavy, not an item that one could take apart easily, move it and put it back together, and have it last, in my opinion.3
For my wall ovenSueAfter we finally got it put together, I love it. however do not get plastic feet since we needed to wait for the proper pieces. Best price because other places wanted double the price!5
Perfect for the spaceCathieThis piece is part of a laundry room/ mudroom makeover. It’s all IKEA. Sektion cupboards and Pax wardrobe and utility cupboard. I love it. Less than 1/2 the price quoted by 2 other places. Feels solid and looks amazing. My husband and I assembled it all. Our contractor helped with hanging and installation. We live in an old farmhouse so the cupboard fronts are perfect. Customer Service was excellent from the design centre in Barrie (Britny) to the after sales people.5

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
