Not compatible with North American ABS pipesSelcukI don’t understand why ikea is selling this water trap in a country that it is not compatible with the existing plumbing. This is basically European standard water trap. Why should I convert my plumbing into another which is not standard or maybe not in line with the codes
What you need to know is...MikeI know it sounds crazy, but there is logic behind all of this nonsense. You have to think it through a bit.
All sinks include a basic water trap. This RÄNNILEN water trap is only used for one style of vanity. If you happen to choose the one with the drawers, you'll need this specialized water trap instead of the basic straight trap the sink ships with.
About the "overflow kit not included" note (that you may have missed in the small print above). The overflow kit ships with the sink because it needs to match the size and shape of the sink.
Here's the real kicker. The drain cover kit that you need to finish the plumbing of this water trap kit actually ships with the Ikea faucet. That way your drain cover and plug will match the style of the faucet you select (chrome, black, etc..). The faucet also ships with a matching overflow cover.
Hopefully this saves you 3 trips to Ikea, 2 long online chats, one long 800 phone call, and 24 veggie balls.
LeaksMimiThis is my fourth IKEA bathroom installation, and this has been by far the worst experience. I bought this along with the Orrsjon sink, and the Angsjon sink cabinet. The Rannilen leaks in multiple points of contact: where it connects to the water pipes, it leaks; where it connects with the pipes from the Orrjson sink (for overflow), it leaks. Come on IKEA, do better. I buy your bathroom sinks and cabinets because of their functionality and aesthetics: who wants to see their bathroom sink cabinets taken over by ugly pipes that makes the space virtually unusable. The Rannilen is designed to fit your sink, but your customers are out of luck if they leak.
Love this Drain Option ErvinYhis allows r all the drain plumbing to be moved away from the middle ofvthe cabinet to the far rear oprning the cabinet hor better use options
Cannot use - need overflow noted in the instructionsDuaneBought this drain for our Ikea 24 inch sink - but this drain does not come with the overflow assembly noted in the instructions. Where can we get the overflow assembly?
Replacement to the old system SalehAfter receiving confirmation from IKEA customer care, I purchased it as a replacement for the old system, but it did not work.
Unable to use faucetMonicaI’m unable to use the faucet I bought as it is “too deep” as currently IKEA has the shallow drainage system for the cabinets. I now don’t have a sink stopper/spreader and the water splashes everywhere from the IKEA cheap metal insert. Make sure you buy the tap at IKEA to fit their shallow drainage system.
Missing part of the drainage systemArabellaThis is only a portion of the drainage system for the bathroom sinks. It's missing the overflow portion which makes this half useful and very much not useful.
Excellent SharonShould be installed in every bathroom vanity for an unobstructed use. Excellent product.

Assembly instructions are incompleteLenIt seems there are variations in this product. I selected it visually, so perhaps I did not get the exact one. When it came time to take it apart to clean it, I found that the assembly instructions did not agree with the unit that I have. Otherwise very happy with it.
Space saverCherieHad a plumber recommend this system as I get so much more drawer space

Very happy with my new bathroom!SharonI renovated my bathroom recently. & bought the Hemnes vanity & medicine cabinet and Odensvik sink.
These cabinets & sink were easy to assemble and install and are nice & sturdy feeling. The finish is beautiful and they look a lot more expensive than they were. I love the integrated plug in the sink!

Typical Ikea Solution - Long Term Quality Questionable HoweverJ.We have fully renovated two bathrooms with Ikea in the past 5 years. The other morning, we discovered water leaking from one of the sinks, finding that the rubber gasket attaching the drain pipe to the sink had rotted away totally and the nut holding it all together had snapped.
Off to Ikea to get a replacement as you really don't have other options then their own hardware and plumbing when installing their sinks.
Ingenious that the trap is at the back, however, and that's one of the reasons this is a good solution. Only wish the life span was longer.
