The fabric back side allows air to pass through and acts as a pressure equalizer, enabling the cushion to shape itself to your body when you sit down.

Ugly cotton backingAnnaThe chair I chose on the Ikea website had nice-looking leather (or fake leather) backing. (Note: Ikea had two options on the web—one with ugly backing and one with nice backing.) When I proceeded to assemble it, I noticed that I got the cushion with an ugly cotton backing. The chair is only usable if you plan to have its back facing a wall. 2
Assembly of Poang chairMariaI wish that they made all the screws the same size. the difference between them is very small, but makes a difference in assembling the chair. Their was some cuzzing when assembling the chair. Once we discovered the different screw sizes, assembly was easier. So why can't they make the screws the same, the length are the same.4
Solid chair...but too priceyShawnPretty easy to assemble, but the wood seems a little dry and creaky. The chair is comfy, but a little too hard for my liking...so hopefully it softens up a bit. For the quality and comfort...it's over-priced by about $50 compared to other options.4

Lovely leather, rough frameRobiI purchased this chair to replace a similar style Idomo chair that I've owned for over 30 years. The leather seat and back are well-made and I expect them to provide years of comfortable supportive seating. Unfortunately, the frame isn't the same quality standard - it seems to have very little protective coating, and there are a few areas on the arms that are almost splintery.4
I'm happy with itShawnOnline video tutorials helped me a lot: the enclosed printed instructions are kind of confusing. Also helped me a lot that I had a screwdriver with interchangeable heads so I could apply more pressure at times than the little Allen key permits.4

Material

What is layer-glued wood?

With layer-glued wood it’s possible to create flexible and extra strong constructions with curved shapes, like frames for armchairs. The secret is a technique where many layers of thin wood veneer are glued together and then pressed into the desired shape. We often use wood like birch, beech, ash and even bamboo – and strive to use the raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste. Just like solid wood, it has natural variations in structure and colour.
