Weighted blankets
Our weighted blankets are available in a range of weights to suit sleepers of different builds and preferences. A weighted blanket provides a deep constant pressure on your body that helps you relax and unwind and can help you sleep better. Many people credit a weighted comforter with helping them calm anxiety, fall asleep more easily and sleep more soundly. It’s a bit like being hugged and has a nice, calming, cocooning effect. Sweet dreams!

How to choose the right weighted blanket for you
It is generally recommended that you choose a blanket weight equal to roughly 10-15% of your body weight, not exceeding 35 pounds. The ‘perfect weight’ for you may vary a few percentage points depending on other factors, including personal preference and height. Just remember—you want a constant, gentle, calming pressure that still allows you freedom of movement.
Weighted comforter for one, order up!
What if we told you that you can still enjoy sleeping alongside your partner without ever having to fight for the covers again? With a weighted blanket it’s not only easy, but recommended!
Due to the nature of their design and the different blanket weights needed for different sleepers, we recommend that each sleeper has their own heavy blanket. With this in mind, twin size weighted blankets are a popular choice that you can also easily carry to the couch for movie night.
Are weighted blankets suitable for all sleepers?
There are situations in which a weighted blanket might not be the right choice for certain people:
- Young children: At IKEA, most of our weighted blankets are recommended for ages 12 and up. It’s important that your child be tall enough, strong enough and aware enough to remove a heavy blanket in their sleep if it becomes uncomfortable. This is typically around the 12-year age mark, but can be later for children with shorter, smaller or lighter-weight builds.
- Anyone with breathing difficulties: Weighted blankets are typically not recommended for people who have or may have difficulty breathing properly throughout the night. This includes but is not limited to people with asthma and sleep apnea.
